I am going to have a tune built for it over the next 24hrs. This will be a non-issue i am hoping.

These cars are speed density and therefore don't need to be tuned for an intake to work, whether that's the MAP, JLT, Airaid, etc.

Do this! Pull the negative battery terminal and then get inside the car. Turn the headlight switch on and mash the brake pedal. This should get rid of any residual battery charge in the system. Let the car sit for a little bit, maybe 10-15 minutes, then hook the negative terminal back up.

That'll reset the learned parameters within the ECU. Once you do that, drive the car a couple hundred miles to get everything relearned, then report back to us. I guarantee that it'll be business as usual after an ECU relearn.

It's usually a 'good practice' to reset the ECU learned parameters and KAM after installing any new mods. This is much easier with a tuning device because you have the option to reset those on the device itself and don't have to pull the terminal.

It definitely won't be an issue then because the learned parameters in the ECU is reset (as I just mentioned) when a new tune is flashed. You'll still have to drive the car a couple hundred miles to get everything relearned.

Has anyone done a tune first before adding an intake? Still feel like the intake is bs. Regardless im going to try just a tune and DP and go from there. Ive seen a ton of videos that pair up the tune and intake but nothing that does the tune first, measures hp, then adds the intake to see any gains. Might be one out there but I havent seen any...

You aren't going to feel the intake in the SOYP like you're going to with a tune or downpipe. Those mods are pretty big in the SOYP feel. Seeing how an internal combustion engine is just a big air pump, the more efficiently you can get air in and out of the engine, the better it's going to operate. Plus, the turbo will be stressed less due to breathing easier.

It's pretty apparent from the vendor's dyno sheets that intakes will make power, but it's just that you aren't going to feel 8-10 hp like you will 35-45 hp. I think the biggest difference felt with an intake is in the improved throttle response, etc.

Let me also suggest this, especially if you're going to get tuned, order an intercooler. A tune and intercooler would tie in my mind for a first recommended mod. Like an intake, it won't give you a big rush, SOYP feel, but it's absolutely crucial to making consistent, reliable power with these engines. The stock unit is a HUGE pile!

I was definitely considering the Full Race IC. I have their products on my other ride...superior quality.

Let's see what happens in the coming weeks :)

Awesome! My intercooler, by Levels Performance, was supposed to have shipped today, so now I just have to wait for the snow to melt and install it. [emoji106]
