Heh now you know why I call this one grandma. ;-) They always like to put out some extreme hystrionic prediction to try and scare you into acting like a square ;-)
When you're facing losing everything you own or jail time (or even losing your license) because you think it's all a scare tactic, go ahead and comment that you were wrong. Driving THAT fast isn't a joke. We aren't talking 5-10-15mph over; but 40-50mph+ over and well over 100mph on a public road with other drivers.

What if you just scare someone into a crash because you go too close or cut them off at a high rate of speed. Don't think you will still be held responsible? Think again.

Used this video in another thread with another race car driver wannabe. You don't think that Ferrari, despite making contact with nobody just going at a high rate of speed, will not be tracked down and held responsible for causing this accident? Better see a lawyer in your state because you're wrong.

all 3 lanes were empty btw. Go derail somebody else's thread, why did you even post in this one? Go flame in the how fast have you gone thread.

To the spring mountain guy, I don't get the reference, a 35mph road with traffic lights every block??

Spring Mountain (note the capital letters) is a real race track where once you've been signed off to run solo (i.e. drive on the track without an instructor sitting right seat giving you guidance) you can drive as fast as your car, skill level, and courage permit.

Camera shake means being over about 118 - 120, the turn right after the bridge is a 100 mph corner, and the turn at the end of the main straight requires 129 to 70 braking (and a downshift). Repeat everything about every minute and 40 seconds without screwing up.

100+ on an empty road doesn't impress me enough to work up a yawn over. It's nothing more than offering yourself up as ticket bait.

Or this, up to maybe 115 on a clear lap. Not slower than 40 anywhere.

Don't let it get to you. All those videos and dramatic scenarios are just code for one thing: P-U-S-S-Y. Thats all it is.

I personally prefer to go 100+mph through school zones when the kids are around, you know, so there are more people to see how fast my car is.

Driving 100+ on public roads is generally a bad idea and should be done on closed race tracks; however, I don't see how speeding on an empty desert road that is straight and clear for miles being an issue as the only one's at risk are the speeders themselves...

Agreed. There are WAY too many kids in this world; bonus points for every one you hit. One less snivelling mouth to feed.

↑↑↑ code for "I have nothing more so I'll just throw out a direct insult".

Bring it to the track.

Did you specifically pick a video where you don't get passed by 80hp miatas? :)

I specifically picked the video with my personal best for that track, as that probably meant I hit the highest speed I've ever attained there. Or anywhere else in any other car except the NASCAR experience car I drove to a few mph more on the Las Vegas Motor Speedway tri-oval.

Of course I've had to point Miatas by. And I've had a few of them give me a point-by. Even at my first track day ever (a story in itself) I could stay ahead of this one Miata (whose driver had autocross experience at least comparable to mine).

I'm actually interested in reading a discussion about police scanners, radar/laser detectors, etc. Does anyone have anything to offer on the subject?
