You drive your mustang through a carwash? Wow you must not care about paint or rims.
I take mine through once or twice a week through the "soft cloth" wash and mine is a black car. It is better than leaving it filthy covered in salt because I have chosen to enjoy mine year round. A good polish a couple times a year keeps them looking good for years.

Don't worry about your car...enjoy it. In 5 years when you are looking for something else there will be almost no difference in value if you just maintain them within reason. If you plan to keep it forever I agree with the concern you have.

Hidden surprises

Back in the late summer, I was invited (by the dealership) to attend the "dealer orientation" on the 2015 Mustangs.
The guy from Dearborn who was giving the orientation said that there were a few hidden surprises that the new Mustangs have, But since there was a future buyer attending (Me), he did not want to say what they were till later, when they all went to the conference room. (Where I would not be).
Does anyone care to share what those little surprises might be? Anything you may have found that you weren't expecting?
For those who may not want to know what they are, I suggest you skip over this thread......

Besides the sunglass holder and the hood pony that shows up when the hood is frosted(which I have yet to see) there arent really any "surprises" that I've seen in my first few thousand miles

YUp...Its next to the steering wheel .. next to trunk lid opener
Delivered 5 days ago and didn't know about sunglass slot.

Here's something that surprised me. There is not a large digital speed readout
on center display. Chrysler has similar setup but displays speed and also displays Nav upcoming turns. Not complaining. Love my S550. Just think that with all the engineering Ford put into car they would have added.

Hidden Features in the 2015 Mustang

Here are a couple of thing engineered into the 2015 Mustang prior years didn't have, outside of what's documented. Post up if you've found other things.

Creep Assist (manual cars)
- If you are in a drive-through or really bad traffic jam, just as you put the car in 1st gear and begin to lightly take your foot off the clutch, just slightly tap the gas/throttle and the computer will pickup and keep the engine rpm's around 950 rpm without you touching the throttle.

Umbrella slot (compact style)
- Found that the pockets in the door panels have very deep pockets/holes extending backwards from the opening that run back nearly the length of the door panel. This area is covered and not easily reachable by hand. I grabbed my umbrella off the rear floor board, and sure enough, an umbrella slides right into that area leaving just the handle end of an umbrella exposed. ** On a side note, if you hear any rattle or noises in your car, reach your hand in each door to make sure something didn't slide back in there.

Lost features for 2015 (coming from earlier years):

Fuel Usage over 5 or 10 minute intervals
- On my 2011, 12, and 14, under fuel usage you could view average fuel consumption on 5-minute, 10-minute, or 30-minute intervals. It appears that for 2015, we only have 30-minutes as an option. I usually left the 5-minute internal on the screen to remind and track my driving habits against fuel usage, as it was easy to see the impact from a few minutes of horseplay.
Not really a hidden feature. I can do that in a 96 5 speed cavalier

Anyone have a picture of the pony when the hood is frosted? My car was frosted a couple of weeks ago but completely forgot to check that 'feature' out.

Found this the other day - ordered a blue and white umbrella to stick in there :ford:

Anybody notice the set of vertical slots behind the right side of the steering wheel (comparable to the location of the trunk button on the other side)? I'm guessing that they represent a grill for warning chimes, etc. Anybody with a different take on them?

Huh??

Like Jimmy said, I've been using them for years with no problems. The one next to my practice sees its share of Porsches, Benzes, and the occasional Maserati and Aston. I really don't think I have to worry....
Hit it with a blacklight swirl finder after a years worth of those type washes and you will be amazed at what you see. It's nothing that a quality polish with a DA buffer wont fix(usually). Over time those microscratches accumulate and degrade the cars appearance, it is very subtle.

I typically keep cars 7-10 years and put over 200,000 miles on them. All winter long I go to the local soft brush automatic wash. In the summer I wash it in the driveway.

Yes there will be swirl marks in the paint but it's not something I concern my self with in a daily driver. The paint always looks good.

I painted my 68 Barracuda 15 years ago and it has only seen driveway washes and it has swirl marks in the paint too. The paint job was never intended to be show quality so I am not anal about polishing them out.

Those slots are for the Climate Control. Almost every car I've owned has had them. It samples cabin temperature to adjust the AC.

OK, this happened to me today, and I found it interesting...

It was at dusk, and I keep my headlights set to auto. They were on when I pulled into a business for a quick stop. When I came out, got in, turned on car and put it into reverse. The "something behind the car" chime started going crazy and I looked to see a car had sped through the parking lot and was behind be. Interesting part is that the headlights didn't come on until the chimes stopped, like Ford programmed them to say I shouldn't move....
