Nice to read that the 2020 Heritage is holding value with 18k miles. The Rs aren't getting any cheaper.

That’s another factor as well, I REALLY like the look of the Heritage. I am considering I may appreciate the Heritage package more than the 1-1.5 second difference the cars have on the track. Once I saw one optioned with the HEP I can’t get it out of my head, where I literally have dreams about it.

I looked at Rs like you. Then, found an ‘18 white/blue with 21k and clean history for $51,xxx. Easy choice because I was looking at $25K more for the Rs. So, I installed an MBRP resonator delete X pipe and now it has the R sound. Then, with the 305/30 square tires and GiroDisc rotors all around I’ve ditched approx 5-6lbs of unsprung weight per corner. Not CF wheels, but, not nothing either. Noticeable. So, def not an R, but, it could play one on TV lol.

All things being equal, a $7k premium for an R is a no brainer. As already stated in this thread, I too believe that the R will start to seriously separate itself from the GT350 in the near future. There were 20,564 GT350’s made, compared to 3,646 R’s.
Thats a significant difference in rarity. As these cars transition from dd’s to weekend and even collector cars, the R’s will become the one everyone wants.

Well, I will add some more context, because I am not sure everything is equal. This is the one R “close” to my price range also for a 2019-2020. The next closest one is $84,888 which quite frankly, isn’t happening. I am set on a 2019-2020 either way I go.

So here it is:

1) $73,500 2020 GT350, Heritage Package, Technology Package, Carbon Fiber Instrument Panel, Recaros, 18,500 miles. Not worried about the lack of Handling Package as I will buy those two parts that were dealer installed accessories to begin with. “Two” owner car, comes with original owners kit, currently owned by someone who works for the dealership I bought my Mach 1 from, he is the second owner. Though he bought it directly from the first owner, so I have the full story on this car. He is currently waiting to buy a lower mileage heritage, but that guy is getting cold feet. That’s why this car isn’t in my garage right now because it’s pending on that. 12 hours from me but I don’t mind that to deal with a dealer that does tons of performance Mustangs and I’ve dealt with before.

2) $80,300 2019 GT350R, electronics package, carbon fiber instrument panel, 3 owner car. Stripes changed from original black to white at some point it appears. Which I don’t love. I also don’t love the rear side markers are changed to a smoked version. Sue me, but I want all original and don’t wanna start having to rip it apart the second I get it home. Don’t think it comes with the owners kit. 17,933 miles. Again, yeah it’s cool and all, but no Heritage Package and 3 owners where I have no idea the story of the car. Local dealer about an hour away, “high end” dealer, think George Saliba. Though I’ve never dealt with them.

Both check out on Oasis in that the 2020 GT350 had a thermostat replacement in 2021, the 2019 GT350R had its rear stripe and bumper brackets replaced due to original delivery shipping damage. Other than that, no warranty work. The R has a decent paper trail of services but some lapses, the 350 has perfect service history with oil changes done every 3,000 miles and recorded. So… everything considered that’s why I’m still leaning towards the 2020 HEP car. Again, after this 350R, the rest are out of my price range by a significant margin, as this one is already realistically 10k more than I want to spend!

What color is the R? Seems like a reasonable premium to me…
The R is magnetic metallic, with white stripes currently. Though, window sticker says black so someone changed those.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s a really nice car. I just prefer with the “reputation” to get one I know the history of through and through, less change of hands, presumably less abuse. Etc. I don’t know.

I am not qualified to post in this thread, lol. But...

1) The appearance of your car is very important in the decision. Magnetic on a '350? Ugh, no thanks. HEP? Yes, please!
2) If DD and no track, then I also would not want the lowered R.

If you get an R, be ready to scrape your splitter regularly. It's not only lower, but it sticks out a lot more. You're gonna scrape up the GT350 splitter too, just not as often. Not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but it's not staying scrape free unless it sits in your garage.

Agreed. I love the look of the HEP. It’s beautiful. Not going to be a DD either which way, but honestly, no track in the near future.

I was in a similar position as well, got a ride in a regular one, loved it, got a ride in an R and it was game over - had to have it. The R is an absolute bargain for all the extra goodies and benefits.

I bought my 1-owner 20k mile 2020 R on BaT in January for $80K. I was in the market for 12-15 months trying to avoid modifications, too many owners, wrong color etc. Didn't really want the HEP but did consider buying one for the right price. Takes patience to find one that ticks all the boxes. You could say I slightly overpaid for mine but I got a brand-new front splitter and 2 spare carbon wheels included. I can't complain, did an oil analysis, engine is healthy, got a 6-year Ford ESP. Driving the hell out of it

Fair enough. I wonder how close the height of the M1 HP is to the 350 and how close it is to the R. The splitter on it is big as well and a lot of people complain about scraping, though I haven’t had this issue as I’m just careful with it.

Honestly to be candid, nothing scares me away from the R. It’s just I think to get a car to meet my standards it’s not near my price range. For the 2019-2020 model year, which needs to happen for the updates it received.

I mean, if I win the lottery tomorrow I’d for sure go scoop up one of the 120k+ low mileage HEP R’s lol.
