Personally, if my intended use was as a DD, I'd probably go EB. I think it's the bargain of the line, and nice in Premium trim. I can't wait to see what the aftermarket comes up with for them. My '79 was a turbo-4 car and with a healthy cam and some wastegate fiddling, it surprised more than a few V8s in its day.

That said, my intended use is weekend plaything, and I don't plan much for mods other than a CAI and tune. Plus it's the first one I am buying new and might be a keeper, so the GT got the nod.

How many of you guys actually get the tune for your EB? Doesn't it void your warranty?

I knew from day 1 I wanted the EB. When top gear talked about the next generation Mustang coming to Europe as a turbo 4, I hoped Ford would give it to us as well. This was well before the official announcements.

I don't understand the V8 or bust mentality. I don't understand the EB or bust mentality. It just makes no sense to me. Why would you hate on someone elses choice?

Buy the car that feels right for you. If you can, I would see if someone in your area has an EB with a tune on it and get a ride in it. It really changes the personality of the car. I do think if you are cross shopping the two, you would probably be happier in a GT, but I don't know you and what you really want out of the car.

I work in an industry dominated by turbo 4's and 6's. Seeing these manufacturers that have made a name for themselves in the foreign car market stepping up to the EB market excites me. A lot of these parts will cross over to the V6 and GT cars, and that is good news for ALL OF US as it gives us more options for modifications.

I will say there are a few things I wish I could have got on my EB. The 6 piston brakes, the hood vents and the GT grill.

edit: Let me add. If anyone in the greater Salt Lake area wants a ride in a not stock Ecoboost, shoot me a PM.

I looked at both the eco-boost and the GT when I placed my order over a week ago. I drove both cars with performance packages and six speeds. When I specked both cars out with the salesman there was a $8000 difference between the two. Both were Coupes both had the 401 A package, NAV and both had the premium trim and Recaro seats and both had the performance package and both were six people sticks. Would it had been nice to save $8000 yes. But what it came down to was the GT was just more fun more power and sounded incredible. The GT will be my DD, and replace my Fiesta ST and my Lotus Evora.

Wait, $8000 difference? What kind of numbers is that? The EcoBoost i was looking at with X plan was around $31,800, and my GT i ordered is around $36,100. That is not a $8000 difference, and i don't think i similarly spec'd EB and GT would be that different. EB's can top out at $37k and i think a GT can top out at $42k. Its around a $5k difference, and thats a lot, i admit, but nowhere near $8000.

I was seeing around 5k difference as well, not enough to sway one way or the other IMO. My lil Eco specd 37,700.Gt a lil over 42.
I chose the Eco with the intent of a tune and a few mods. Fast and quiet is what I wanted, mileage is a nice bonus. Everyone around here has a loud v8,farm trucks, pos cars, bad ass nice cars , they all sound about the same to me:shrug:The one exception is the older 5.0. Love how they sound:headbang:
Anyhow they're all fantastic just depends on what you like. Price really isn't that big a difference to me for a deciding factor. I'd never buy a brand new base car though especially just to get a v8.:headbonk:

Both are a bargain for what you get IMO. I wanted just about everything so the price climbed rather quickly:eyebulge:still a Bargain though, love these cars

paid 32,7xx for my base GTPP. if i wanted to add the premium pack, it would've been 36,5xx, the only other option is all weather mats for both.

i couldn't justify the extra 3800 bucks just so i can get pony projection lights and air conditioned seats, the only 2 options i cared about.

to be honest, someone at work mentioned that the air conditioned seats are worth the 3800 alone, but when i called my dealer to add the premium pack to my order, he said i had to come in and redo the order. that's when i took it as a sign to go w/ my first instinct, and i didnt want to risk my order being bumped.

Thank you everyone for your input. Yesterday I was at the dealership ready to place my order when my wife called me to inform me that her company was getting ready to do a round of layoffs and although she is pretty sure her job is safe it's probably not in our best interest to go from a vehicle that has positive equity to a vehicle with negative equity at the moment. If you don't know, I'm from Midland, Texas and while everyone else that works in an industry that is not supported by oil and gas drilling and production is celebrating the return of sub-two dollar gasoline many of us are just hoping to have a job in six months. I will be in an S550 Mustang in the future, it just isn't going to be next week.

I'm sad, because I really wanted that GT.
