Wow! Nice lap. Looks like 7-8-9 are still super bumpy. Hopefully the new ownership will address it.

Those side view mirrors...

That car isn't about looks, it's about functionality. Those mirrors, I am sure, are about functionality and lower drag.

I like to disassemble things.
You are 100% right about function, I agree about the added aero throughout. The side view mirrors, uhh, no. The added moment from a longer lever arm, the reduced stability of the pimp mirrors vs the stock units and how they mount, not gonna buy into an argument about a drag reduction there. However subjective...it is just one of those things that does not belong.

I can guarantee they are gorgeous live. And way better from a drag prospective

You can't guarantee looks but hey, you did for drag. Let's see your data there as well as how much more "solid" of a mount this design is. I haven't seen physics defied yet but that doesn't mean you can't be the first.

By the way. That is not my car. Is Mark's. Mine has the oem mirror :)
But I did consider them for places like willow springs where speeds are very high

I did an analysis 4 months ago about them.
I'll copy here
Note. One with 150mph max ( my car) and one for 165mph (Mark)

**SCENARIO 1: 150 MPH TOP SPEED**

OEM Mirrors (2% of total drag):
100 mph: 49N (11 lbf) = 3.0 hp
145 mph: 104N (23 lbf) = 9.0 hp
150 mph: 111N (25 lbf) = 10.0 hp

APR GT3 Mirrors (35% drag reduction):
100 mph: 32N (7 lbf) = 1.9 hp
145 mph: 68N (15 lbf) = 5.9 hp
150 mph: 72N (16 lbf) = 6.5 hp

Top Speed: OEM 150.0 mph | APR GT3 150.4 mph (+0.4) | No mirrors 151.0 mph (+1.0)

Willow Springs Lap Time (baseline 1:21.10): APR GT3 1:21.04 (-0.055s) | No mirrors 1:20.94 (-0.160s)

---

**SCENARIO 2: 165 MPH TOP SPEED**

OEM Mirrors (2% of total drag):
100 mph: 37N (8 lbf) = 2.2 hp
145 mph: 78N (18 lbf) = 6.8 hp
165 mph: 101N (23 lbf) = 10.0 hp

APR GT3 Mirrors (35% drag reduction):
100 mph: 24N (5 lbf) = 1.4 hp
145 mph: 51N (11 lbf) = 4.4 hp
165 mph: 66N (15 lbf) = 6.5 hp

Top Speed: OEM 165.0 mph | APR GT3 165.4 mph (+0.4) | No mirrors 166.1 mph (+1.1)

Willow Springs Lap Time (baseline 1:21.10): APR GT3 1:21.04 (-0.056s) | No mirrors 1:20.94 (-0.160s)

---

**Power Calculation:** Force (N) × Velocity (m/s) ÷ 745.7 = hp

APR GT3 mirrors reduce drag by 35% (this is a conservative estimate)
through smaller frontal area and optimized airfoil shape.

At terminal velocity, OEM mirrors consume 10 hp vs 6.5 hp for APR GT3.
Lap time savings concentrate in high-speed sections (T6→T9 at 165 peak, front straight 105→165) where drag increases with velocity squared.

Worth it? Thats of course subjective

I won a national Championship by 0.1 sec. My car is advanced in a lot of things.
And
If the level is high like Mark's car ,they could be the last piece of the puzzles for the aero.
Lastly,
This analisys does not consider the benefit that goes in the rear wing (with less turbulent flow)

Props for delivering some bacon. Unexpected but welcome. Quick question...did they provide a reduction or an increase in buffeting with the windows down?

From a structural standpoint, as I assume you'd prefer a mirror that doesn't shake at speed, did you analyze the moment that the lever arm places at the door panel? Quite a difference in cantilever vs the stock mount.

But again, credit for data. Can't argue with that. Aesthetics though...

For the buffering I dont know. Again no my car
But also no windows either and drive with helmets anyway :)
I can ask Mark.

It is dry carbon. If you think about is very similar design than the f1 ones. And they go waaay faster than us :) (i mean not that much 🤪)

No biggie. Again, much respect for showing the work. There's function and there's looks. Nice to have both but in the end you can't argue with competitive advantage by successfully applying proven theory.

The APR G2 is nice-looking(IMO). They also cut down on drag. Though they are rather expensive.

@dnstommy: GT350 only comes in a manual. So yes, rowing through gears !
