Depending on your budget I would say make sure it has a CSX number.

That CobraI didnāt think this would ever happen, but I got the bug to move on past the GT350. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the car; nothing.
But I just was hearing a voice for something more old-school and perhaps special. A car that I could actually work on, didnāt require smog or inspections, and one that a cop might appreciate instead of ticketing.
Two cars that really turned my crank are the GT40s and the Shelby cobras.
The GT40 replicas would be my first choice, but I would have to sell my left testicle to make that happen. And considering the high mileage on the latter, the value is suspectā¦
I have always wanted a cobra, but thought it was too impractical. Considering I have only taken the 350 out on nice days owning a cobra. It wouldnāt be much different.
There is definitely a part of me that is sad about having walked away from the 350 but a new adventure awaits. At least Iām staying in the Ford family. By the way, having three pedals on the new ride is a given.
The 350 went to a good and deserving home, and I know it will be well taken care of.
Wish me luck on the next adventure!![]()

but you have to say that line with a fake Italian accent to be true to the movie!Favorite movie, just keep the rear view mirror onāWhatās behind me is not important.ā
And hopefully quality.Agreed. It adds cost most likely, but it also adds value.

Well, this is(or would be) a car that I just take out, make noise, and have fun up in the canyons on an occasional basis. I live in So. Cal. so itās drivable 340 days a year. But donāt be jealous, because we PAY DEARLY for the good weather. I can barely tell you..A guy I work with occasionally built a Cobra kit with a Gen 3 Coyote. He describes it as scary fast and a TON of fun. He also mentions he has some regrets due to the impracticality.
You already touched on that and I think it's something to seriously consider if thinking about one. How much will you actually be able to use and enjoy it? For him it kind of put a damper on the experience.
I spent a couple days running hot laps around Willow Springs in a 427 AC Cobra with Scott Sharp and it changed my life forever. If only a man was judged by the size of his garage rather than what he put in it.In 2021, this one surfaced at the same collector car dealer as the Backdraft. I want to say it was a Superformance car, and was the most authentic looking replica I've seen, right down to the gauges. It had an all-aluminum FE in it, well over 427 cubes. They had it priced in the mid 70s as I recall. I should have recorded it at idle for my ringtone, it was wicked.
I fell in love with it instantly, and started plotting to move my '15 and several of my Harleys to buy it. Turned out that its original owner got wind of it showing up for sale online and bought it back. It had only been on the floor about a week.
Moral of the story: build your toy garage big enough to accommodate more cars than you're ever likely to own, so you can pounce on stuff like this.

A few months ago, I saw this guy with a 427 cobra at a local cars and coffee. Just seeing it again reminded me what a place it held in my memory. Though there is obviously nothing wrong with the last model of GT 350, I was just ready for something to really stir the soul. The cam chop of a 427 coming out of side pipes is just very memorable.I spent a couple days running hot laps around Willow Springs in a 427 AC Cobra with Scott Sharp and it changed my life forever.
