Sort of interesting, I noticed the spring rates of the stock Mach 1 HP springs, and front and rear sway bar sizes are all the exact same as the Dark Horse HP. As you know, we also have the GT350 front subframe, and GT500 rear subframe. This car is really a GT350/500/DH HP baby, every way I start to look at it lol. I mean shit, we even have the front flares that the DH got. Also, take a look at our front bumper side by side with the DH HP and GT350. Many similarities there too. I truly feel like this car was a test mule for Ford in some ways, to see how they’d bridge the gap between the S550 GT350 and S650 Dark Horse HP.

If you want to trace back even further, the Mach HP has the same springs, sway bars, and wheel sizes as the PP2.

Ah that’s a cool connection too. I know we have some other PP2 bits like the brake booster and stuff. I really love this car, it’s truly a best hits album.

Well took it out for a test drive to try out the new springs. Predictably slightly firmer ride but I really like how it handles in the corners even with normal driving, much less sloppy feeling. The ride height seems to have settled out at around 0.75" higher at the fender lip but I think I'll keep it this way anyway, doesn't look terrible and the performance is just what I was looking for.

And as I was moving stuff out of the way before pulling out of the garage, a window washing pole fell on the hood. I'm sick and furious. A scratch in the paint and two scratches in the decal.

But, it‘s dry heat.….🙄.
I was one dust storm and a single searing inhale away from never going back. 🤣
I checked out the weather history and had a realtor contact and she told me the area we were interested in, is the mildest in the dust storms we are 40 miles Northwest of Phoenix, and the majority of haboob's happen South East of Phoenix. Yes dry heat low humidity 10 to 15 % makes it feel milder than what the temp number is by 10 degrees. It's like anything the more your outside the more you get acclimated. The over 110 degrees you do limit time outside, and drink Plenty of water.

The dry heat comment reminds me of what Jeff Foxworthy said about dry heat...
Worked in Vegas yesterday. It was 107 degrees. The girl at the front desk said, “It’s a dry heat.” I said, “So is the electric chair.”

Your killing me 😁

I just couldn't do the rain and cold 9 months a year anymore, when I was working 12 hours a day, it was where my lively hood was , but after retirement everyday inside looking out ,I couldn't do it anymore. The over 110 is only mid July to first of September 6 to 7 weeks inside , better that 40 weeks a year inside.
Best thing I've done since retirement , 2nd best was purchasing my Mach1.

In 2 weeks one of the more special Car Shows of this season is Concours de Elegance in Anthem , benefits Phoenix Children Hospital, they did put the Mach on some of there posters , that's cool .

I used to live in Phoenix, over 30 years ago. Whenever someone says it's a dry heat, I say so is sticking your head in a fucking oven. BTW I was there on June 16, 1990 when the official temp set a record at 122 F, has that ever been topped?

Here is the record per Ai - "The highest temperature ever recorded in Phoenix, Arizona, is 122°F recorded on June 26, 1990, at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport."

I was close, I knew it was June, I got the year and the temp, and I knew the day had a 6 in it. But hey, I'm getting old and that was 35 years ago.

So this was fun... took 2 hours vacation time off work this afternoon for an appointment with a Ford dealer to do an alignment now that the new springs are in.

Sat down in the waiting room and 5 minutes later the service advisor comes in and says sorry, we can't do it, it's too low and will scrape driving up the ramp onto the rack. Seriously?! You sell the car but can't do a simple freaking alignment? And couldn't tell me over the phone when I made the appointment?? Wasted 2 hours of time off!!!

Figured well I'm out now, might as well try somewhere else. Went to National Tire and Battery... nope.

Firestone... also no.

Local mechanic... said he'd do it but it would take about 3 hours to build up boards to get it off the ground enough for him to get under it. Yikes. No thank you.

Local Chevy dealer... another no. Said Corvettes aren't that low.

Finally found a local general mechanic who has a drive-on rack, taking it in a couple weeks.

Just a little warning for any of you with the handling package if you ever need an alignment.
