I used the forum search feature and didn't see anything relative to if anyone else has purchased Ford's touch up paint for the Mach 1 in fighter jet grey and noticed that it is not a good match for the original paint. The touch up paint is darker. I'm aware that the FJG is aka cactus grey.

The paint code I have is NE PMPC 19500 745 7A

My Mach is hitting 4 years old and I have some chips to touch up...

Anyone else have the same experience and found a solution?

Thank you!

When I went to use mine I noticed the same thing that it was way darker than the car. I shocked it up more and then used it on a scrap piece till it finally came out the correct match in the color.

Ok, I will go back and shake the heck out of it and see if I have better results. I was very surprised that it was so unmatched coming from Ford.

I have seen varying shades of it between model years. Mine is a 21, my friend had a 22. Parked side by side, you could see the different hue to the color. Very odd, same paint code...

Some of the colors look “off” when just trying to fill in some chips. I had that with my old Triple Yellow S550. No matter what I tried, it always stuck out. At least to me (and maybe it’s because I knew where to find it). I’ve got a couple chips in my hood and roof that I have been contemplating filling. I have the Ford touch up pen. I feel like Grabber Blue Metallic would be a somewhat easy color to fill in chips, but I’m hesitant due to my prior experience. I might just use the clear coat and clear over the chips instead.

I may go the route of just clear coat. Someone upstream of this thread indicated shaking the heck out of the touch up paint might help mix it for a better match but the one spot I tried the other day with admittedly not great shaking made it look like my car had a big ugly grey mole and not the kind that digs up a yard.

Between paint chips and windshield rock chips I sometimes feel like I'm being punished for having a nice car!

Man i feel that, but at my age, I just roll with it. Each chip has a story to tell. :) Mine is admittedly a garage queen, but on the weekends, especially when its nice outside, I drive the hell out of it. But I do my best to clean up and take good care of her along the way..

Garage queen indeed. I came home the other day with a crown. Wife asked if it was for her. I said nope, it's for the Mach.... Ba dum bum! 🤣

Stories indeed.... about 6 months ago, I'm cruising in the middle lane of a 3-lane highway. Moderate to heavy traffic conditions. Dump truck (guess where this is going...) merges onto the freeway far right lane ahead of me. I notice that its rear payload door isn't completely closed because a bunch of golf ball sized rocks are stuck between the door and payload bed..... I'm stuck in my lane.... truck hits a bump..... 30 or so rocks shotgun out onto highway. 3 into my windshield. Truck exits the highway. Gone.

I'm still seeing red. 😡

I used these guys when I installed a APR rear wing onto a used deck lid, ( I didn't want to mess up my OEM one). The Royal Crimson color is a three stage paint which is very hard to match. They matched it perfectly. Give them a try.

Shake it up really good and make sure it’s not the Arctic grey that comes on F150’s. I have a FJG machine and Arctic grey Tremor. The truck is darker.
