Hey everyone, are these buttons for programming a garage door opener?
Is there specific methods to achieve this?
Please advise. Thank you!

The owners manual provides a couple of methods depending on the type of code generated by your particular garage opener.

Accomplished this today after reading the manual. I held the garage door opener and sun visor middle button down at the same time till it blinked. Works now.

There are also some Ford Homelink YouTube instruction videos out there that make it much easier.

Read the manual, it's dirt simple and only takes a few seconds to program.

Thanks everyone. I just wanted to know if there was other functions as well. Manual pretty much covered it.

Could it be possible to find it as a separate part and install in a car that doesn't have it already? For us in Europe it's not available as option.
Obviously I should check if frequency will be compatible.

You could order the visor with it. It just taps into vanity light power. Should plug and play and work easily.

It can be used to control anything that a garage door opener can control.

If you program the button and it doesn't open our door, try forcing you door to learn the button on the visor. It should pick it up and start working then. The manual explains this step too if just programming the button doesn't do it

Thanks, I'll check the US manual (EU manual does not exist yet!) and will see how it works :)

To add to what SVTFreak posted, I did this with my '03, sort of. I purchased just the control module on eBay for $20 and grafted it into the visor, and no issues with programming. Just a simple splice into the exisiting wires as he said. Only down side is that since it's a 'vert, I find myself replacing visors every 2-3 years, and I haven't had the time to add it to the latest replacement, so it's sitting on a shelf in the garage:mad:

I had mine programmed as follows: button 1 - opens/closes garage door, button 2 - controls the lights in the garage, button 3- home security system.... And I am NOT tech savvy.....lol

Has anyone used this for anything other than a garage door? I have a storage unit with a remote gate that I'd like to sync up. I don't know what technology either uses to communicate. I'll try over the weekend but was just curious if its possible. thanks
