You are safe at 900 to 930 on 93. You need a fuel system to run 85. So if you are happy in the 900s then why spend that extra money?
Safety and peace of mind.

You're one tank of bad gas away from a bad time
Not true. I️ have Had bad gas on a few occasions and it just dropped HP. I️ now Know what gas stations to avoid. It really is safe. I️ get An average of maybe 200 miles to a tank of gas. If I️ switch to 85 it would drop to 130-150 miles to a tank. It is also not readily available. The 5.2 on 93 is very safe at 900 hp but that is as far as you can go safely.

Likes: Drivetrain, body lines, wing/ducktail and taillights, carbon ceramic brakes, new car smell
Dislikes: Front end, the teal colors, the paint style on the hood on the special editions, hood vent style,
Undecided: Dash, Exhaust tips.
It's all about the price point from here out. Under $125k for the top shelf car and it's a winner. $150k msrp, and I'm not having it.
Subaru vibes:

The "teal package" is an option, I believe. Don't quote me on that. And I do like it! On a black car, it would look killer. I like it on the blue car that Ford showed. Growing up in the 80's and 90's there were a lot of fluorescent and bright colors. I love/miss those times. (Think old school 80's BMX/Freestyle bikes.)

I agree with the price point that you listed. I was thinking, 110k - 120k, so we're in the same ball park with pricing. More than that, they're gonna have a hard time selling them. Maybe not, but that's my opinion. That's pretty much C8 Z06 2LZ money right there.

Apparently that teal is grabber green from the boss 302. Which is more speculation that they were thinking about naming this a boss? I'm actually glad they didn't. Boss mustangs were always N/A and recent variants weren't the top dog. SC reminds me of the fox body Saleens. It's simple, there's just a horse on the back of the car...I'm past the name at this point.

I don't have a GT500 so this intrigues me. The looks are really growing on me. I love the CF wheels, the carbon ceramics, etc. If the CFTP is in the 120K range, I might consider one. Does anybody know the colors? I heard they might bring back Avalanche grey.

Of the S650s shown thus far, this is the only one I actually like / am OK with, particularly with the front bumper body colored instead of blacked / carboned out. Also kind of digging the rectangular exhausts.

Still not a fan of the rotary dial for gear selection (I get that it's the same DCT as the GT500, and I made fun of the rotary there, too), and still not a fan of the "screens, screens everywhere" dash.

I *do* like the blue they showed it in (just not the teal accents). Reminds me a lot of Atlas blue, or maybe Deep Impact. Would be nice if either one came back across the lineup.

After Ford's losses in their EV investments we are lucky to have a car like this. Even if it is just a reskinned GT500 with some upgrades. I personally like it. The next Ford Racing model I would like to see is a Dark Horse on the same chassis as the DHSC but with an NA 5.2 crossplane engine with a DCT or manual and call it DHR.

So, how many of you guys like this DarkHorse SC car?

I like it. I think it looks aggressive and I love the front end of the car. I didn't want to rush to judgement right away when it was unveiled, but I actually kind of liked it from the start. Not too crazy about the ducktail spoiler with the high wing spoiler, but it's supposedly 10% more efficient that way, as far as downforce goes.
For me the logical comparison is to the Mustang GTs that were offered for sale a few years ago by the dealership in Ohio. They dropped a Rousch supercharger onto them and charged $42K, IIRC. Those cars have what I would feel I need from a supercharged Mustang. The DH probably will have more equipment, but none of it makes the car more desirable to me.

For that reason, I like the DH SC if the base DH SC is at an MSRP under $50K. Nothing about it is a complete deal killer, although the DCT is close. The styling is acceptable. My opinion goes more negative at higher prices. If the base model is $80K, I'm pretty ambivalent. At that price, I like the car in theory, because it's a Mustang and a Ford. It's kind of how I feel about a 911. I'd like to own a 911, but prices are just too high for one with a manual transmission.

If a manual transmission were available in the DH SC, I would like it at higher prices.

Really, I dislike cars with spray-in cylinder liners and direct injection. I try to avoid both unless I feel like the car is a bargain. I bought my LT1 Camaro because it was cheap, not because I like DI. I prefer larger c.i. naturally aspirated engines over forced induction. I don't really like the steal your info - tainment features on new cars, either. All my future cars may end up being 20+ years old and engine swapped, or I may stand pat with what I have.

I'd buy new in a heartbeat if someone makes a car I become infatuated with, though.

I’d like that theoretical car with a manual as well, though it would likely have a different name because there’s already a Dark Horse R and a Dark Horse S (though I believe they’re track only or race only cars).

Farley gave a bad answer there. I love the GTD but it is not a corvette competitor unless I can go buy one at Corvette prices

That’s what many of us wanted this car to be. NA 5.2 or 7.3 with a manual

Yeah they’ve painted themselves into a corner with the names. Let’s try to help them out. Dark Horse X? Dark Horse Z? 🤣 If they do the 5.4 they can use Dark Horse LM

The engine in the IMSA Mustang GT3 car is wicked. It's a coyote 5.0 bored out to 5.4. This would be a nice street car in either manual or DCT. I would prefer a manual. I personally would love Ford to offer this engine in a production car but they would need to move production of the engine in house though.
