Man I can totally relate to what you are going thru. I got him at 8 weeks, a puppy, and lost him exactly 1 month before he turned 14. My buddy wasn't an "outside" dog, he was allergic to grass and broke out anytime he was outside much. We did go out on occasion, but I tried to keep him on hard surfaces. I went thru all those emotions, coming home and expecting to hear his nails clicking across the floor to come greet me, his warm body against mine at night as we slept and sitting in the recliner chilling after work.
Faych came to us as a last-minute decision. An advertisement went up Thursday evening, I procrastinated at work all Friday, then I rang up on Friday night, I was there Saturday morning. Faych was the last of his litter, if I had delayed any longer we would have never met. The first time we met, his mother had jumped up on the back of the seller's couch to greet us, Faych wanted to follow suit. From that moment on, Faych has always wanted to be where you were, just like his mother. Be that on the couch, following us around as we went about our day, barge his way into the bathroom, had to be on your lap in the car. Clingy, but in the most lovely way.

The more I think back, the more I realize he was sent to us, he was the last of the litter for a reason. Early on, there were a few odd moments that we didn't fully understand. Then one day when he was about 2 or 3, I got a phone call saying he had just had a seizure. And from that moment onward, trips to the Vet were a frequent occurrence. Early on, the meds did absolutely nothing. It got to the point where I could see when they were about to happen because he would get up and begin to wander, then you could see the terror flash through his eyes in the seconds before he would go down. And there is nothing you can do but make sure he doesn't hurt himself. He would recover in a few minutes, then be back to his normal self. Extremely hard to watch over and over again.

Eventually, the Vet added an extra medication to the mix................................and he stopped having seizures. The only one he had since that change was in 2020 when Covid supply lines were limited and we had to ration the meds to get through. Not one since though. There have also been a few complications, most likely from the meds, the day he went walk about and ended up needing surgery, and last year when he decided to inhale a bamboo cooking skewer before anyone even realized what he had done.

I mention this not to be gory, but explain that frequent vet visits, regular blood tests, years and years of medication, surgeries...............................it all adds up. And not everyone would have had the funds to pay for all of this. Had it not been me who was that last caller on that Friday night, would the next caller have been able to fund the continuous treatment of Faych's health complications? I can't answer that, but I do know that he was meant to be with us, that he needed us and we needed him.

Sadly, it was likely the seizure meds that caused the liver issues later in his life, and ultimately the reason why he went downhill. But we did what we could to make his life as good as it could have been.

It took me a good couple of weeks to pack up all his toys and stuff, and I stayed busy with my Mustang friends, and my detailing addiction kicked into high gear about that point too :) . I was able to repurpose his pee pads at work as I regularly use them to keep my work surface clean. I was able to donate his food and supplies to the local pet shelter...
I've started to put a few things away, purely because they are triggers. You hesitate because it makes it feel like you've given up on him, like he's already forgotten. Put it this way, I'm not throwing things away, just putting them away, for now.

As for memorializing him, my vet was able to get paw and nose prints, and I put them in a frame with his collar tag. Also many years ago, way before he passed a good friend of mine made me a stain art portrait of him, I keep it hanging in my living room and see and pass by him every day, still even speak to him on occasion just like he is still here...

A few years ago, my father had a local artist paint Faych's portrait.

The painting was based on a photo I took while I was working. Every now and then, I'd take Faych to work with me. I only did this for one particular job as I had to make sure I was working within the backyard, he'd otherwise get anxious without me hanging around. Sometimes the owners' dogs would be around, in theory they'd get to play, but Faych was never particularly social with other dogs. They say dogs take on the personalities from around them, well I'm hardly a social person myself, often anxious. See the pattern? So while I worked, he got to roam the garden but always made sure to circle back to know exactly where I was.

One day in the garden, I took a one in a million photo. For anyone who has attempted to take a photo of an animal, you'll know it's rare to get the camera out in time to capture that perfect shot...................................

Unknown to me, my father took that photo from the calendar I'd make of Faych each year, took it to a local artist and had the below painting commissioned. My photo of that painting is woeful, but in person it's so lifelike. I will forever have this painting, its hangs on the wall opposite the door leading into the house from the garage. Faych would always be at that door to greet me after work, ready for pats and a little treat. While he is no longer waiting at the door, I still get to see him the moment I walk into the house. At the moment, while everything else is a trigger, this painting has brought me peace. It embodies everything that made Faych so special, its soft, delicate, warm and comforting.

I made similar decisions to you this morning. There are so many ways to go about it now, some of it sounds so lovely on face value, for example adding ashes to a pendant or similar. But the more I thought about it, the more it just came across as a cash grab, and that's not me being a scrooge as I would have gone broke for him. It was also what I alluded to yesterday about becoming neurotic. In the end, I wanted to keep it simple, keep him together.

Not to be dismissive of your grief, but more so as a way to change your focus, I had this arrive today.

Can’t wait to try it out!
Dam you!

The very second I spotted this on a Sema livestream, I'm like I AM BUYING THIS. Knowing the local Rupes distribution, It will probably land in Australia next century and cost $10,000 when it does get here though. :curse:

I need a review of this when you can, it looks to have fixed everything that made the old iBrid Nano very dated amount fresher rivals.

I need to fully dial in my truck so this will get it's first use there. I'm not sure how much my review will be worth to you as I've never used a mini polisher and I'm relatively new to polishing in general but I'll be sure to let ya know what I think.

Too bad I bought the previous version last year :) Of course that is my luck. But I really like the one I have, it definitely is a game changer around little bits, door handles, mirror covers, etc...

OK, played mad scientist and got all the bottle labels put on, the bottles assembled and filled. VERY nice setup, I just hope the bottles and sprayer heads hold up. I have heard mixed reviews about them. They have to be better than the IK ones :) . Particularly worried about the wheel cleaner, tire cleaner, "clean", and iron. Time will tell.

Wheel and iron work fine in the OG Pressol Pro Series. Ghost, however, does not play well with them. It clumps up when it dries and clogs the spray head. But since it doesn’t appear you have one with Ghost then you don’t have to worry about it.

I have the older generation Pressol's, but the following applies to the new Pro-Series as well.

- The new spray head is supposed to be alkaline resistant. However, I would still do what I do with the originals, purging the spray head back into the bottle, then running some clean water through it to flush it out. I do this with Brake Buster and Undressed, which has saved killing spray heads, be that the Industrial or Household types. I'm actually using the weaker Household type with Undressed for over a year now without issue, without the flush I'd get two months. In your case, I'd be doing this with Clean and Tire Cleaner.

I will say, if you are using these things all day/every day, that is probably not practical. For the weekender, it's totally doable and will save you hassle and cost in the future.

- With Amplify, I've found it can block up the intake filter in the bottle. This means you get inconsistent flow from each trigger movement. I've cleaned the filter with IPA and compressed air.

- I'm not sure if they fixed this on the Pro-Series, but on the old bottles, I found repeated/continuous pumping caused the bottle to panel in. I notice this most with iron remover and APC.

I am hoping they work good. I have killed a few spray heads on my IK bottles. I will definitely purge the wheel and tire bottles for sure, probably clean as well, I have it at 10:1 in the Pressol bottle, and 4:1 in my IK bottle. The pickup tube ends look very similar, will have to see how well they work. I resisted the urge to buy them for a long time as the IK usually work great, and I just swap to a cheap Tolco head when the IK ones die, I do like the 360 style heads but the tube gets hard and brittle over time especially with alkaline or alcohol based solutions.

They don't offer a Pressol label for Ghost, I guess they figured that out already. I much prefer just a standard pop top squirt head for Ghost anyway, it seems to work best for me. I don't use Ghost that often, it lasts for a while and I top with Tire+, PERL, or even Gtechnic T2 to revive it up to 2-3 times.
