At what point does the 2016-2020 GT350 become age and cost prohibitive?

Not sure if my 2 cents help but I had a 2016 gt350 for 2 years but I got bored of it, not sure if this makes sense but it was just too much power for me, meaning by 2nd gear, I was done, I know take it to the track 😁.

Don't get me wrong the sound was orgasmic!. I ended up trading it for a focus st, which was a really fun car!

Now fast forward to today, I just bought a 12 year old boss 302 and I've had it for about 2 weeks and with only 444 HP but that's just about the right amount of power where you can actually row through some gears.

Lastly, with the car being 12 years old, but only 25k miles, it was still 34k considering the sticker was 45k 12 years ago....oh, I did get the 6 year extended warranty for my peace of mind because I drive my cars... The gt350 had 30k miles when I traded it in

Now, you could try that approach with me, but chances are that you’d be walking home in the cold, alone.
Hardball works on some; not all.
Can’t fault a guy for trying I guess.
Cheers
lol I had a guy make me a lowball offer like that on my “restored” 87 LX 5.0 with a huge explanation on why my car was only worth 10k vs the 17k I was asking for it. I laughed at him which pissed him off. He fired off some angry emails after. Sold it a few weeks later for 16k.

Well sure, BUT (and I’m not discounting your experience here) I have been on the other side of that coin…

back in the mid 2000s I was on the hunt for a rare car, the 1996 Dodge Stealth RT/TT, only 57 were made its last year and they were all but impossible to find.

just so happened one popped about 300 miles south of me, so I hauled @$$ down there and took a look. It needed work and parts, of which I had both so I offered 6 or 7k I don’t recall. He scoffed and laughed at me, he wanted 10k cash.

flash forward almost a year, and a good friend of mine scooped it for 5k!

sometimes you get the deal, and sometimes you set the table for the next guy…

such is life 🥃

Dodge/Chrysler churned out some cool stuff in the 90’s. The Stealth was one of my faves. I remember when the first Viper came out, my dad was ordering himself a new car (Dodge Shadow) and the dealer had one of the first Vipers in the showroom. Dad’s Shadow was a fun little car, I learned to drive stick in that car.

way overpriced for a base. CFTPs are going under 100
Eh, depends. There’s several CFTP’s near me that are $102-$115k still. A couple CFTP’s just under $100k but most are still over $100k. Some of it depends on where you’re at and what the demand is. That Heritage non-CFTP might be a tad high, but there’s still plenty of non-CFTP’s around here in the high $80’s and a few at or just over $90k. Those cars may sit for a while given the time of year it is and Chicago weather, but prices on Shelby’s (including 350/R’s) have held pretty well here. At least the clean ones have.

19/20 350R’s are insanely priced if they have low miles.

Suggest a call to Fathouse. They may know the GT350 better than 90% of the population and have taken that shortblock to extremes...

Having a 2019 GT350R i aquired with 3300 miles on it at about a year old, I consider myself lucky. Great car I picked up in spring of 2021 for a very reasonable price. So happy I pulled the trigger.

To anyone looking, finding a well maintained higher mileage car (whatever that means to you). I have just under 22k on mine currently, with 2 owners should be obtainable. I have owned mine for instance the majority of its life and have all the details from the prior owner as well.

Chain of custody is what you will look for going forward.

I have a 17 GT350. I drive it daily. Its an absolute joy to drive. Its not cheap...2 sets of rotors. 2 sets of brake pads. 4 sets of tires. Replaced the engine, the AC, the clutch and flywheel, had a door ding in the fender fixed and the rear bumper repainted. Thankfully I bought a bumper to bumper warranty that lasts until 125k miles or 2029 which ever arrives 1st...93k on it now.
Dont buy a GT350 to sit in the garage. Its not an investment. Its an intoxicating car to drive. I've had a Roush Stage 3, a 66 Fastback, a 67 fastback, a 65 hardtop, a 2008 gt.... the GT350 bests them all in the fun department...just a fun drivers car. People love to see them and they take videos and pics of it all the time...there's nothing like the exhaust note...if u buy one just drive it and enjoy it for what it is, fun.

I have a 2020 350 that I bought new. My warranty runs out in 2 years and after that I am wondering what to do with it. I do like it a lot, and it's definitely fun. But I think I will see how they are holding up when the warranty runs out. This car has been largely OK, but I only have about 7k miles on it because I have a few other cars and don't drive that far. Prior to buying a Shelby, I did test drive a ~2018 Bullitt, but it didn't excite me enough to buy it. But it was beautiful.

If I do decide to keep it, I'll probably stock up on some cosmetic parts in the not-too-distant future. I find Ford to be pretty terrible with parts availability. I have a Lotus, a Subaru, and a 45 year old Mini, and they are all easier to get OE parts for than my 2001 Mustang, excluding things like engine parts or suspension bits. Unfortunately, the Shelby parts do seem to be way more expensive than standard Mustang parts. Although for me, I'm generally happy to pay as long as parts are available. I wish Ford were better at that for their specialty vehicles.

I have over 20k on my 2019 that I purchased used in 2020. It’s been everything I’ve wanted in the driving experience and more. It was in a rear end accident 2 summers ago and was able to get all oem parts for the repair.
During the insurance claim I did a diminished value claim which required a lot of research for comparison models with and without clean car fax and it really gave me an appr for just how rare these cars are to get in certain specs and conditions.
There will most likely come a time where parts are scarce but I will cross that bridge when I get there. For now I’m just really enjoying driving this car on both street and track.
just checked the other day and It‘s still valued above what I paid for it.
