Looks like some sort of end cap for something. Did you check under the cargo area when you lift it up. Or did it come off a seat rail and someone tossed it back there?

Did you recently do any work on the car or have anybody else work on it? If it's somebody else, they could have knocked it off, not known what the hell it is either and threw it back there. Otherwise it belongs to something back there. I know it's not the trunk cover itself because I've taken that apart. I'd get a flashlight and stick your head in there and look around, especially at the ceiling/backseat area to see if there's something exposed or if there's another one of those attached that could give you a clue.

Thanks, That exactly what it was, would never have found it. had the back seat down to haul something and have no idea how it got back there
