I usually just give a thumbs up and a nod and keep it moving as I was. Haven’t had someone try to launch off on me when I do that

This 100% around here. And the Ultimas and Sentras. I think you have to sign a waiver when you buy one of those ensuring you'll drive them like a jackas* or they won't sell you one.For some reason all the 5.7 Durangos cut their mufflers off and drive around revving it and trying to race me

Yeah trying to create a driving crime that isn't there on it own is just lazy policing. In Reno cop cars are Chargers. At like 1am one night, I had a black Charger get so far up my butt that I couldn't see the headlights anymore, though he was trying to race, so I moved over, he followed. I lane changed back and he followed again, still an inch from my bumper, so I stuck my arm out and tried to wave him past (was late, was just trying to get home) and he lights me up and pulls me over. I told him was just trying to get away from him because he was driving aggressively and literally said: "huh, have a nice night" and let me go. Driving like a jerk at 1am to bait people into doing something silly.
I had the same thing happen to me back in 2017 when I had my GT. Young guy in a "mad max/road warrior" themed old school Chevy Nova... primer paint job, skull ornament on the hood... I am not kidding you.I just don’t engage. If it’s a cool car, I’ll smile and wave and just drive normal. They usually get the hint pretty quick. If it’s some kid in a fart can, I usually don’t acknowledge them at all. If I do, I make sure I roll my window down (so they can see through the tint, and laugh. That usually pisses them off and they speed off like an idiot. A few have gotten caught by cops just up the road which makes it all the more hilarious to me.
I know not everyone is so fortunate, but we have plenty of tracks within an hour or so drive for that kind of stuff. Both road courses and drag strips.

Trust me, they don't know you're there and have no interest in racing. I own a Tesla Model 3 Performance and a Mustang GT. I love the G force of the Tesla. I'm trying to convince navigation app authors to add routing with the most stop signs. Red lights are useless or torture. You probably won't be first in line and if you are you're dodging light runners.Where I live, this almost never happens to me. Couldn't tell you why. When it has happened a few times its almost always a Tesla model S dual motor. Obviously doesn't rev but I always get a feeling they're going to take off and they do. Don't take the bait for various reasons stated above but especially with those cars. Love them or hate them those things accelerate like a S.O.B.
Exactly. I just want to be left alone too. I just want to enjoy my car, my day, my 90's country music, my diet cola beverage, and the wind as it goes through my gray ish hair. When I'm driving, I don't want to engage with anyone in any way possible and just want to be left alone. Besides, I took enough chances in my 20s.
"Racing" or otherwise, I don't get involved.
