Have a 22' GT with 10r80 and 36k miles. My 10r80 has the typical shift issues most have from factory. My door sticker says date of 9/2022 so it should have updated CDF drum. Am considering a N/A 93 tune from Wengerd Performance as Ive seen many say it fixed many of the 10r80 shifting issues and drives like a new car.

My only dilemma is I have 4 years left on powertrain warranty which im worried with the 10r80 I may need depending if mine will last or not. Then again if I have the updated drum and tune it, I should be okay.

What do y'all think?

tune it and keep a factory tune handy. issues and retune back to factory. it's what I would do.

this coming from someone that has no horse in the race if it blows up tho :)

They can see if you have ever changed the tune as when you put it back it leaves a marker.. if your tranny goes and ford wants a ecm/tcm report to look at it, they will see any changes dated back quite a ways… so it doesnt matter.. they can see lol.. so if they wanna be assholes and decline warranty work then could. If the transmission is gonna break it will break. The tune will help it shift better and run cooler so do it.

if you have a warranty i would leave it alone, im in the same boat as you , i drive it in sport plus now when its dry . normal feels terrible now . so if you tune it , and then have issues and you put it back to stock it will leave a mark that it was tuned , now they cant tell what was done just that it was flashed . it has a flash counter that as far as i know counts back 255 starts .

That’s a fair point, I use sport plus as well when engine is warm. It is much better than normal but still has some trouble riding gears when driving tame lol. At this point I may just take the gamble and hope my trans isn’t a lemon, if it is a good tune should hopefully make it last longer and I may just fork out the money when the time comes.

I probably will end up doing the tune. Wengerd is well known and has a great reputation so it may help my trans in the end compared to fords crap programming

If you need the warranty, then do not tune it.

If you want a fast car, tune and mod away, and let the chips fall where they may.

Sounds goods, Ive decided to tune, just going to communicate with Wengerd that my goal isn’t max performance but rather drivability and smoothness, I have confidence he can help @Joshinator99
Post back after you get it and how it is performing.
