I am doing an audio upgrade in my car and it will eventually be a fully active 3 way system. But I would like to do it in stages so that the car is not down for a long period while I do all the work. So the first stage would be to change out the factory speakers for something better. My question is do I need to add bass blockers and such to the tweeters and midrange or does the factory AMP do all that currently? Just going to change the speakers out, no other changes, until the next stage.

Your tweets will need bass blockers if they don’t already have some built in. The stock ones are wired in parallel to the mids so your output will suffer due to the change in resistance. You’re better off waiting until you have time to install the amp and speakers. If you want to minimize down time I’d first start with running your power, ground, and signal wires first. You can leave them longer than expected and trim to fit when ready.

Are you going to run an amp to the mids and highs? These speakers are easy to change and a great starting point. Are you going with a dsp or new media player?
I don't have premium so it has tweeters and just a 6 up from. My jl audio speakers have a bass blocker built in. Most set ups that have a 6 mid and tweeter have an add on external speaker.

Honestly. Disconnect the tweeters. Mine sounds so much better without and I have plenty of treble. Not sure why people want streaking highs to blow their ear drums

Depending on what setup you have I have the appropriate harness/adapter for getting rid of the stock amp. It’s brand new and unused, realized I purchased the wrong one for the B&O system. Save vs buying new, comes with the digital output as well and optical cable so you don’t need to use RCA’s. This is only for the 12 speaker B&O systems.

Streaking? I assume you meant “shrieking”. And I guarantee you if you don’t have any form of tweeter or high frequency speaker you’re missing so much detail from your music. It’s not about being loud, it’s about reproducing accurate sound, as the sound engineer intended.

I have 4 2 way coaxials and 2 way 3.5s with tweeters going in. Plenty of treble.

I would imagine that would get to be old pretty fast on a drive longer than 30 minutes.

My exhaust system is my sound stage

As I explained to AWE performance when they were installing the new switchback exhaust, I didn’t buy the car for the stereo. So no one else gets their nose bent out of shape, I did send the OP a few questions that he needs to answer regarding current setup, before proceeding.
