Just thinking of getting a new 300a 6-speed for my wife, with Brembos. It's for commuting, daily driving, and not spinning donuts, drag racing, and other things deemed obnoxious to society. The original Mustang did great on the street without all the PP items, in which some are throwing $$$s away. But it's not going to be used like a little old ladies car. Plenty of engine "In case", which is the bottom line.

Well, most of it you wont need. Dont need the brakes or cooling for a DD.

but I really do like the Torsen for any purpose. It lasts nearly forever and helps put power down in any corner or turn. Its the one part of the PP I couldnt do without.

I plan on an ESS centrifuge when and if they become available. Thing is my wife is LEO, needs an edge on the street. I talked with a guy who whippled his base 300a 18" tires and he said the Whipple adds so much weight that the car dives like Phelps at cornering. But that SC is a different beast. Plan on getting 18" Michelins anyway. Maybe just a few street mods for it. A/Vs aren't needed since neighbors don't like that close. Either a S650 or if I can find a good S550 with low miles. I like the Dark Horse because of the Tremec, but those seem to be rare this year. A Bullitt would be nice too.

No, not for $5445. But it’s not really a need. It’s a want. For wife will never, ever be able to tell the difference. You on the other hand………… :giggle: :like:

I hear those 18 inch rims make the tires spin much faster than 19s or 20s. It's really only the tires which come with 18s are bad for getting the power to the ground. They break loose really easy. Might go for the Night Pony package. With Ford it's give and take. Love the N/Ps rims, blackened badges, and side views, but I'm not crazy about the black roof, or the reason why a black roof. Must be a reason they do this. But my wife can drive, and has training in persuit because of her profession. This is why I'm getting her such a car. She presently has a real sporty Camry.

I bought my '18 GT without the performance pack. It came with the base-level 18" wheels and 235/50 all season tires. Mine is an A10. Even though mine didn't have the performance pack it did have the optional 3.55 gear ratio--which is kind of a stupid combination with those tires.

It's "fine" for daily driving, but the traction in first and second gear is pretty awful with the combination of hard, skinny tires and short gearing. If you do any performance driving at all you're going to want wider wheels and stickier tires. (Which you can do separately from the performance pack, if you don't want all the other stuff.)

I hear their is some good 18s. Going to have to look. I do like the ones from the Nite Pony. They're 19s. It's probably best to go with regular 19 fronts and wider rear wheels. The Mustang builder doesn't give many options outside the Performance Package. Will most likely have to go with an S650, all the S550 from 20-23 have 30,000 - 50,000 miles on them, and the Bullits are around $45,000, Mach 1 about $56,000.

The 235s would be fine with the 6 speed, the gearing is looong on the manual transmission with 3.55s and the traction control on these cars is pretty damn good. With an auto i can see it being sketchy if you drop the pedal and it downshifts into 1st. That's not something most people are gonna do with a manual.

Definitely not optimal of course but it'd be fine unless your wife is drop clutch launching at 5000 rpm. Once they wear out i'd just get some 255s.

As far as brakes, the stock brakes can put your head through the windshield with ease. 4 pistons in the front and still relatively massive calipers and rotors. You will be more limited by traction than the brakes.

I believe the car comes with 255/45VR 18. I believe the 19 are 255/40R19 for the Nite Pony Package. A dealer has a base 300a across a few town in Ft. Worth. I'm going to have a look at it. Could end up purchasing it. Been searching for a good low mileage S550 with Zero luck. Thought I'd make out like a bandit, but that's not the cars. The place has an A10 3.15, and MT82 3.55. I really wanted the 3.73, but that's a lot of money for things I don't necessarily need. Especially a tow hook that's nearly $300. Ford needs to get rich of the packages, and let people choose what they want. Off I go.

Question? Why staggered wheels for a daily driver? No ability to rotate tires. I can understand why you might want the 19’s (although there is nothing wrong with the 18’s). Best option would’ve get the 18’s and go aftermarket. Maybe go with 19x10’s and 285’s all around.

I forgot about that. When I think performance tires it's always staggered.

Just throwing it out there.. If I were to get my wife a new GT, I'd get one that had the performance package, active exhaust, and magnaride. It would be enough to have some fun, without going full on Mach 1, or Dark Horse or heck, GT 350 😁

I just looked at a new 300a GT online and it had the active exhaust and that's all. I'd go with a bit more goodies.

I've been looking around and there are some lightly used 24's out there that would knock the price down vs a brand new one. I'd have my wife test drive a few options and narrow it down to what she really wants and likes.

Good luck, it's cool that you'll be adding a Mustang to the family whatever you choose!

You can still go side-to-side (at least with the PS4s) which helps some, but does nothing to mitigate the rears wearing out faster.

PP is worth it for the dampers, chassis bracing, eye candy brakes, diff, active exhaust.

Doesn't matter if can't rotate just get two new tires instead of 4. No one like old tires.

Ecoboost is perhaps a better daily quiet, quick, looks same easy DIY under hood maint and servicing.

Remember the purpose of this vehicle, daily driving.

It's for commuting, daily driving, and not spinning donuts, drag racing, and other things deemed obnoxious to society.
There’s absolutely no reason for a staggered setup. A square setup with larger tires will be a better solution for the intended purpose.
