The axle may he hard - try a light / shallow surface cut with a junior hacksaw to check.

If it’s soft, and your wheel design allows for it, an easier home fix might be to drill the axle end, tap it, then use a spacer / washer assembly held on with a cap head :like:

Gonna bite the bullet this morning and start the spring decon wash, polish and coat my Mazda daily driver. Started laying out products to use for the task this morning :) Weather is cooler today so actually an oil change first, then wash and decon today along with sprucing up the interior. Its supposed to be a bit warmer tomorrow so prep wipe, polish, prep wipe again and coat tomorrow probably about lunch time.. Gyeon says 12 hours cure before driving so if I get it done by tomorrow afternoon I can drive to work Monday morning :) Gyeon also says 1 hour after coating I can apply their Ceramic detailer for extra protection after the coating. Weather is supposed to be really nice thru at least Wednesday so I should be good. Will leave it in the garage overnight tonight and tomorrow night and put my Mach 1 back in the garage Monday before I leave for work. Definitely a labor of love :)

Full decon wash done, iron remover/clay in one step with NV Purify on my clay towel. I was amazed there was virtually no contamination present on the paint... Dried off, gonna let it continue to drip dry for a bit, pull inside and start polishing after I take the Mach 1 and go eat some late lunch :)

Well I got my new windshield I had installed a few weeks ago thoroughly cleaned and coated with Gyeon Quickview.. Taped up the trim and did a quick run over the whole car with CarPro Essence and the Rupes white pad (paint is EXTREMELY thin, didn't want to do to much)... Quick intitial prep wipe using up the rest of a bottle of NV Clarity. Gonna pack it in for the night, I am WORE OUT..... Will start again in the morning. Another prep wipe with Carpro Eraser and then apply a nice thick layer of Gyeon MOHS, wait an hour and apply Gyeon Ceramic detailer as the instructions say. Then let cure overnight and will be ready to go back to work Monday morning :sunglasses: :sunglasses:

Final product. Whew I am glad that is done. I love it, very rewarding but HARD work... Did my final prep wipe this morning then laid down a nice coat of Gyeon MOHS... It laid down really smooth, I think its the easiest coating I have ever used.... Easy on, easy off... The first towel takes it off with ease, just a quick wipe with a second towel and its perfect. You don't have to wait any time at all, just lay it down and wipe it off, it flashes pretty much instantly... Got all done then backed out in the sun for a little "truth serum" :) and dressed the tires with ADS Ghost... I am pleased, for 115k miles it cleans up pretty good..

I am really happy with it. It does hurt my feelings looking at the front bumper sandblasted from all the miles... I am venturing out today in the wild with it and putting my Mach 1 back in the garage. I wish I had enough garage space for both my cars :(

I'm looking for recommendations for high quality hose fittings and parts. Getting real tired of my stuff leaking after a couple years of use.

Mosmatic seems to be the Cadillac, however I have never bought any as they are pretty pricey. I use mainly MTM stuff and it has held up well for me so far. But I am not a pro, and don't use it every day...

I have these on all my spigots and power washer. Stainless is better than brass. Have had zero leaks or issues going on 3 years now

Dear Dr DFB,

I'm contemplating the purchase of a Tornador or TRC Blaster, possibly an entry level fluid dispensing model. A lot of folks seem to rate these tools highly and a quick search reveals you have the Tornador air-only model. They strike me as being good for blowing out interior crevices (not sure they're any better than a compressor with a nozzle) carpets (obviously) and reaching complex surfaces in engine bays (TRC has a dedicated version) and honeycomb grilles etc as well as around badges. They're not super expensive but neither are they trivial in cost given the value of our Pacific Peso.

Grateful for your thoughts including on the different brands. It's kinda conspicuous that you don't appear to have the fluid model but there are no doubt very good reasons.

Also very intrerested to know how you pin down rubber mats and carpet while you're pressure cleaning them. I was thinking of screwing a couple of these to the wall:

9 times out of ten just replacing the 50c O ring in a leaking fitting will fix it , its what i do . O ring pick and a torch its literally a 60 second job . YMMV , this paying huge money for fittings is just a massive waste of money imo . Brass is fine , it's the O ring thats the weak link
