Back in the 60s into the early 70s gators were hunted to near extinction since there were no regulations on their hunting so they were put on the endangered species list. They rebounded with far greater numbers than expected in a short time frame and I believe are still considered endangered. Florida used to and may still have controlled hunting by permit only especially in south Florida everglades area to help keep the numbers in check but that does not nearly control their numbers.

Gators have dens burrowed in the banks of their homes where they live and give birth as well as store their food supply. They do not eat their large fresh kill immediately but rather twist and turn to drown it and then take it to their dens to store so it ripens and becomes tastier to them. Small kills that they can swallow whole they do eat on the spot.

In the 30+ years I lived in Brevard County Florida and fished and boated in many fresh and brackish water of the state I have encountered gators from as small as a foot long to ones over 16 feet long and as long as you respect them and their territory, they will respect you but get to close and they do get aggressive.

Heading your way tomorrow morning boys. We’re very excited to see the finished product in person and get everything taken care of.

Right on! Are you guys coming down for good?

Tell me again, what was the total build time on your home?

Not only were they waiting but they were inviting us in. Everythingā€˜s been going great and smooth and all this week we inspected the place and we’re shopping for furniture and appliances and everything is going according to plan. We can’t wait to get down here permanently.

I know you will like it much more than where you are now. Totally different mindset from the local people.

Glad it's going smooth and happy shopping.

I do miss living there myself but still have my kids I can visit when I feel the need.

@The Demon are you guys in your new house yet? I hope all is going well and you guys are starting to get settled.

We’re looking forward to moving day too, but it’s still about 4 months away for us. We finally have a good shell and all framing complete now, so it does look like a house. The plumbers and HVAC guys are up next.

Hi Adrian. The house is complete and closed. I still have a couple of months left on my lease here in California so our move date will be June 6 when the truck comes and then we will drive out starting on June 7, should be about four days. But in the meantime we’ve had the indoor shutters put in and all the appliances that we didn’t buy from the builder will be coming in April Aland the custom furniture will be done right about when we start driving so we will be ready to move in when we get there.

Caught an unexpected twist at my work today. I’m not in the logistics area so I didn’t know we did this. I have a broker coming to my house on Friday to give me a quote on the move with my corporate discount included. Things are looking up.

I have a guy that was recommended to me by the community in Florida to go and epoxy the garage floor. Of course I wanted to do checkered flag but I was shot down on that which is OK. This is the pattern that I chose to keep it nice but not flashy.

Not only will that make the floor look nice, it’ll also make cleaning it much easier.

Do you know if the installer will be using the diamond grinding method to prep the floor or will they just etch it with muriatic acid?

As I am a novice on this that never even came up. I will call him to find out as I’m not sure. I didn’t even know that was part of the process. Thanks for pointing that out for me.

I know you’re looking forward to the move and getting settled. I know I sure am. It’s been rough living in a small apartment and operating out of go-bags in some instances, due to lack of closet space.

We’re at about 30%-40% complete as of today and they can’t compete it soon enough.
