This. I completely understand what the FR-S and BR-Z is all about, but it is just too underpowered. And don't get me started on that interior. so much cheap plastic, the radio looks like something you can buy from best buy, and those tires are so small. Definetely not worth $25k.
It most definitely is worth $25k. The FRS may be underpowered, but the Mustang handles like a cruise liner in comparison. The only other car I would consider in the FRS's class is a Miata, and they have even less power. The FRS is a true drivers car.

The interior may be cheap looking, but in order to get a true, lightweight sports car into peoples hands, they had to cut corners somewhere. The interiors of the monogram series and the BRZ limited are pretty decent.

Even though I am upgrading my FRS to a Mustang, I will defend the FRS to the end.

They are two totally different car. One is a fast, refined and comfortable sporty coupe and the other is the most engaging sports car you can buy for anything south of a Cayman.

You might be the only person I've heard from that owns a BRZ/FRS and isn't disappointed by it. I've never even been in one so my impressions of the car are second-hand, but but I know two people back east that have them and one hates his so much he's only put 3k miles on it in a year. He's selling it as soon as spring hits.

I was in between both cars for a while but the pendulum has swung far in the Mustangs direction. I've been on the GT86 forums for a long time now and there are a lot of cult maniacs that love those things just the way they are and probably will never get rid of them. Then there's the other sect that dumps seven or eight grand on top of the base price of the car just to turbo it and then sell the damn thing when they can't break into the 12s. I don't know if it's going to be like the S2000 in 10 years where it's almost impossible to find one that hasn't been completely dogged to almighty hell. Then there are the average buyers who are little disappointed with the squeaks and creeks and interior quality who also come to the realization that they don't live on the NĂĽrburgring and want more straight line power so they move on to something else too

If they'd quit screwing around and offer a BRZ / STI package keeping the RWD goodness (305 hp, stout 6MT w/LSD, Brembos, BBS w/real rubber, but keep off pokemon wings and exterior gidgets) they'd have alot of buyers currently going elsewhere. I've been holding out for one and finally said screw it and got a GT.

After seeing the mods available for the Ecoboost I think I would definitely go that route over the v6. Jmo

the BRZ is 50hp short of being an awesome car. As it sits it gets beat by a stock Camry v6 0-60. No matter how sporty it handles thats not for me. A guy i work with had one and sold it after 4 months because (his words) "it has no balls"

:amen:My thoughts exactly, except I would've accepted RWD or AWD with an STI version. The FR-S offers great handling, but that's where it stopped for me. A 2.0L that only spins to 7K with sub-par power. If they had made an STI version I probably wouldn't even be on this forum right now.. I really like the way the FR-S looks though.

This.

Two different markets. The FRS is meant to be affordable yet lightweight. I almost laughed when someone mentioned the cheap interior...since when did people with sporty cars because interior snobs anyway? If it had a nice interior, the weight would surely suffer.

The base ecoboost isn't much more than 3300lbs. It's just because the car is built stronger. It can actually support decent power and abuse without falling apart like the 86s.

It needs a lot more than 50hp to be good. Mine was about that with all bolt ons and e85. Still slow.

How much did they give you for that FR-S? I see a hood like that and just assume the car's been ruined with modifications; I can't see anybody spending more than $3,000 or so for a car with mismatched body panels.
$19k, I only paid $23k 18 months prior. It's a carbon fiber hood. Car was returned to stock when traded in.

Ok; gotcha on returning it to stock. Even though it's carbon fiber, cars with mismatched body panels just look like they've been in an accident and you couldn't afford to fix it properly.

If they'd kick out a BRZ / STI Id deal with a so- so interior, no problem. I prefer a KISS interior anyways. And creaks and rattles, well I've been living with my STI for almost 10 yrs, haha.

So wrong…. Stock to stock the performance package version mustangs handle better. Maybe not as fun as the 86 handling, but definitely faster and more Gs.

Actually the hood got more positive compliments than anything else. It's functional.
