Hey like most others, I would like to get a little more out of my EB. So I thought about going with a Cobb Accessport. In doing that, can I add a CAI, and axle backs without having to do another stage? Or would those two mods work with an "out of the box" tune?

You could use both CAI and axleback exhaust on Cobb's stage one tune. (Probably safe with just about any tune out there for that matter.)

Ok so I am an admitted noobie here. what would necessitate a stage 2 tune?

There's really no such thing as a set stage level. Its up to the tuner releasing the stages as to what's required. I think Cobb says a downpipe is required for their stage two, but you'd have to check the other Ford vehicles on their site.

That being said, almost anything you add that changes how much air moves through the engine would benefit from a new tune.

Honestly anything that is "staged" is probably just a canned tune. Getting a custom tune by someone who knows what they are doing will be worlds better.

Agreeded. And OP, if you want to avoid getting confused about it just buy all the parts and tune from the same company.

They're custom if you decide to data log and request revisions.

I'll be getting additional mods on this car and sticking with the Stage 1 cobb tune for now. I'm not going to be doing anything else until late Feb/March since I want to wait for the drag strips to open back up so I can do some quarter mile testing.

Cobb is using "22lbs". so everyone is running the same boost.? Plus, these companies will get better hp/tq outta their tuners once time goes by, its just early(;

according to Cobb's Map notes..

Up to ~23.0psi tapering to ~19.5psi by redline. (+/- 3psi).
And then the 5 maps you can switch to on the fly..
Map slot 1 = Max Perf. – This is the standard OTS map with full boost.
Map slot 2 = Mid-High Perf. – This is the standard OTS map with 6% less boost.
Map slot 3 = Mid-Low Per. – This is the standard OTS map with 11% less boost.
Map slot 4 = Low Perf. – This is the standard OTS map with 17% less boost.
Map slot 5 = Economy - This mode disables the wastegate and adjusts WOT fueling and ignition timing for efficiency. This can be used to quickly lower power for times when performance is not needed.
Most of the other tuners that I've seen have been doing about the same around 20-23lbs boost.

I don't understand the attraction of the maps you can switch to on the fly. To me, it just screams.....

I dont need maps. So Cobb is pointless to me. That is what your paying. Plus they are off the wall tunes. Correct if im wrong. I can get a Cobb for $430 shipped and bama with custom tunes free for life at $375.99 shipped

Man you guys hate on Cobb like Mustang GT guys hate on EB Mustangs.. lol.

Map switching come in handy to me especially driving in snow Economy more is perfect for keeping the boost down which makes it a lot more predictable on ice. Plus I've been tuning GM LS cars for the past 15 years and will be taking care of the tune myself as soon as the Cobb Accesstuner software is released and I get some time to learn up on it. I also love the handheld they have.
