Any luck on ESS Refurbished Kits

He has been doing the same things I am doing.. just getting the supporting pieces here and there separately. So the refurb kit with the g3 intercooler and bov is all he needed. I'll be in the same boat, I already have everything else sitting here. Just saving up for the kit and tuning and warmer weather.
Personally, I would figure out what exact supporting parts you need (talk to your tuner) and maybe see if Terry at Beefcake can make you a deal on all of them together. Then get the refurb kit. That would be your cheapest way out to end up with all of the same stuff.

I get what wingnutt was saying about people going the cheapest route possible on a boost build, but there's a difference in that and being frugal with your money to receive the same result in the end too.

If you get the chance - ask your buddy what he got with the kit he got and if he still needed to get a separate BAP and injectors. That’s my main concern - and if it separate then I’ll just buy new and spec out exactly what I want/need!

These threads worry me, and this is just my two cents here, but…if one is trying to get into the forced induction game as cheaply as possible, is one truly prepared for the possibility of popped ring lands, blown transmissions, twisted axles and sad faces?!?

not saying one must buy a 12k whipple kit with all the Spacely Sprockets or Cogswell Cogs…but I have seen this game played out over many moons and just as many platforms; the Dodge Shelby crowd, the Gen 1/2 Lightnings, the DSM boys, the VR4 yahoos and even the Fiesta/Focus drivers.

more often than not, the cost of entry is the barrier that keeps the playing field level, so to speak

Just get gt500 injectors from Lewittown Ford and a BAP from Beefcake.

But... The "new" kit doesn't come with any of that stuff either, unless you spec it out to (which costs more). It isn't like if you add injectors and BAP to the "new" kit the price doesn't go up, because it does. Do what Nobuemon said and get the refurb kit if you are looking to save some money.

The refurb kit on my Mach 1 is fine. They even sold me the needed extra parts for the Mach. I purchased the injectors and BAP from them as well. No issues with the parts or installation. Everything went as expected and the car runs great with the Wengerd tune.

I just finished getting my ESS G3/G3 refurbished kit installed last week and it all looked brand new. It has the same warranty as a new kit and the price savings were worth it to me.

It comes with the 125 pulley but I just put in the notes that I would prefer the 120 and they swapped it for me, no issue or extra cost. I also bought the BAP from them as it was the cheapest price I saw for that BAP. I had already gotten my injectors from LMR as they were cheapest and they're local to me. Plugs aren't included even if you spec the kit out new, so I picked them and a few other supporting mods up from Lethal. Very happy with my decision so far.

Awesome ! Feeling more confident about making the purchase. Excited to see what my “almost” fbo (headers/intake/tune/exhaust etc )build will do with some boost. Dynoed it in the early fall at 485 whp on 93 pump gas

Tons of people go with the refurb kits, all over the FB groups. Only seen a couple small issues and ESS takes care of them. I wouldn't hesitate if it was me, they didn't have these yet when I got my kit.

that’s awesome! Im definitely going to get a kit soon but I won’t be taking the car out for another month or two so I’ll buy it closer to then. Going to get a G3 w/120mm pulley Gt500 injectors the BAP and the NGK 6510 plugs as well and I should be good to go

When I upgraded my g2 head unit to a g3 one, got a refurbished head unit rather than wait to have my g2 gone over. I got the g3 unit back in the fall of 2023 and had no issues with it in 2024. Just one thing to note about the refurbished ones is i believe they are all the loud gear set, at least it was when I got mine.
