Is the build date on the window sticker?

That might be the order date. Looking at my sticker the date at the very bottom is the newest issue of the window sticker (they are updated every few weeks) and in the special order box is the date the order was accepted. The blend date is to the right with who knows what other numbers at the end of it.

I believe the date in the "Special Order" box is the date that production began. The blend date is the date that the chassis and body were joined. The vehicle usually is complete a day or two after the blend date if all goes smoothly.

Based on having conversations with various Ford employees over many years which includes numerous conversations when touring the FRAP here is my understanding of Blend Dates, Blend Numbers, Door Jamb Decal Dates and Official Production Dates.

The Blend Date listed on a WS is the date when the FRAP officially starts to gather parts for the vehicle in question and is by no means the actual production date, but I have seen the odd instance whereby both dates were the same.

The Official Production Date is the day when a vehicle exists the assembly line at Flat Rock regardless of whether the vehicle still had to go to the Mod Shop for additional items such as CF wheels, CF rear wing, rear seat delete or possibly over to the Penske paint shop for OTT painted stripes prior to completion.

The Blend Number is a number allocated on a continuing basis based on a 3rd party who issues the Window Stickers for the FMC and that blend number typically goes up to 10,000 and then starts all over again.

With respect to the door jamb decal that lists information including a production date, the reason that the date on the door jamb decal and the blend date on the WS are the same is based on the door jamb decal being printed out at the same time as the WS by Ford's third-party supplier which issues both items at least a week or two prior to actual production.

With the being said, the pre-printed door jamb decal in many cases does not always reflect a true production date as production for any given vehicle can slip from one month into the next therefore the door jamb decal can be incorrect from time to time.

I find it interesting that the flr number somewhat matches my chassis number

I guess I never thought about it before but looking at a couple window stickers I had from previous vehicles, I don't see the build date on there? Am I missing it or is that not a thing?

I'm not sure about your Shelby but on my GT's window sticker, in the block space just below the Total MSRP it has 9-15-20 which I assume is the build date because I got the car in early November (sounds about right to ship it to the West Coast then on a ship to HI). It doesn't say "build date" or anything, just some coded numbers and then the date (without the dashes between the numbers). I think when I checked on the shipment info from the dealer's website, it showed "in transit" and the ship date was just after the date on the sticker so I presume that's the completion date.

the factory held my car for 6 months after completion, put less than 300 miles on it and I’ve been trying to figure out what they used it for ever since I got it. They seem to be extremely secretive about this info.

That is really odd., especially the window sticker. If it were a 2021 they might have held on to it as an early production model, to sort out quality issues and the like. Or for advertising purposes? But at 2022 they already had a full year of Mach 1 production behind them.

When I placed my order I had all the usual worries. The shipping date slipped by almost a month and no one knew why. What if it fell off the transporter? What if someone drove a forklift into it? Who knows what happens at the plant or in transit?

Not sure how much you know about your Mach 1 but in any event it is a "Tooling Tryout" pre-production vehicle with the TT vehicles being the earliest of the 3 pre-production development programs.

The only pre-production development segment prior to a "TT" vehicle is a "VP" vehicle with the Variable Prototypes coming without a VIN and in many cases are destroyed in Texas under strict Ford management.

Your VIN series (549XXX) is also unique to Ford's pre-production vehicles with that same VIN series being used for any "PP" or "MP" vehicles.

The good folks at FP are not allowed to comment on or speak to any aspects of any level of pre-production vehicles with most of these vehicles originating through their Allen Park, Michigan Development Center.

extremely odd …. It’s the second tooling car they started hence TT002 and 33 of 34 they finished in the batch, one of four I know of that still existing …. Only thing I can think is it was the first cyber orange Mach …. I believe flat rock was shut down due to a lack of semi conductors when my car was finally finished

Did you have a preproduction S197 boss302 for sale in pa with the photos of it coming off the production line and other abnormal but amazing documentation , I’ve been following your posts and it seemed like a possibility

Contrary to what some are saying, I haven’t seen one single thing so far in this thread that indicates a reliable way to find your actual build date on the window sticker. Blend date yes, for whatever good that does but build date nope.

I‘m hopeful someone will call me out and show me where I’m wrong. It would be helpful.

I don't think there is a date of the sticker. The closest you can get is the BLEND number at the top. Not exactly sure what that is but I think it's the date on which parts become available for the build. For example my car has a BLEND of 120210108 (January 8, 2021) but the build date is February 12, 2021. Typically the BLEND and build dates are a couple weeks apart.

Could I ask how you know the actual build date?

I know a fair amount, probably about as much as a regular Joe off the streets can…. Do I have a fighting chance of getting the tooling logs ? I’ll gladly pay anyone that can help
