I am not too concern about the airflow, since even the OEM one is not 100% sealed anyway. I just don't want that tube to slide around and rattle inside the air box.

Looks like I am not the only one with the problem. Plus I think with a price like this it should work out of box without any working around or band aids.

Hope JLT can provide some sort of solution for this.
I agree:D

One more thing, my intake did not come with the firewall plug. I figured not a problem. I called Jay at JLT, thinking I would need to pay for the plug. not only did they send it out that day, I got it two days later, but they didn't charge me.

one of the problems with have with our country is too many people have thin skin and get their feelings hurt over minor things.

Jay, Rock the freaking House, keep doing what you are doing... people Man the Freak up!!!!

God Bless the USA!!!!

Jay, I viewed the video on your website, and also the one on CJ pony's even before I start the install.

That's why I asked the question on the forum, I had no intention to attack the manufacture. Its just a very frustrating experience.

Was there a emotional response in my previous post? yes, there was and I apologize. Its just not fun to try to fit that intake tube for 3 hours in 30 degree weather. Maybe I am just simply stupid and can't figure it out, but I did install a supercharge kit on my Lotus Elise before.

It just seems to be an impossible task to achieve for me. I have no intention to accuse JLT, that's why I included a picture. And as you can see in the picture, the fitting is really off... I don't know how can I squeeze or shave the thick plastic to conform the 1/4 inch difference. Who knows, maybe I have a defective Intake tube from Ford, but at least the OEM intake did fit perfectly before I took it off. Plus, if I am the only one that has the issue, then maybe its a user error, but unfortunately, there are other members with the same problem.

If you want, I can ship my tube for you to investigate, I will even pay the shipping.
Yes please send it in. Asap.
use a sharpie and write your name on it.
I will get to the bottom on it and get you a part that fits.
we only have 1 mold and sold over 250 2015 kits so I'd bet it's something simple bit we'll get to the bottom of it.

If it's a bad part I'll reimburse all shipping cost.

While were talking about outstanding customer service.... How about the dimensions for the o ring on your AOS cup? An Email was sent a awhile back, (after the operator responded back to not worry about it) when I purchased it and still no reply with the specs. After wrenching for a looong time I've come to the weird conclusion that rubber O-rings don't last forever. Id like to have some handy in the box, instead of dealing with it after it tears or stretches.

Thanks.

 You didn't get a response? I do know we were in the process of getting the info doe you at that time, but we must have got side tracked on something else, but is this thread the place to try and make us look bad?

I think Lisa's response was very good service:

Kraig,

Sorry, I don't have any spec on it. You shouldn't need to replace but if

Not at all Jay, on making you look bad. It was stating some facts, that's all. I was told on the phone, to not worry about when asked. And never received an email back. Sorry if you got defensive otherwise.

I never got the email. Thanks again for the specs, I appreciate it. I'm sure others will too that want spares as back ups.

Installed my JLT today. Went pretty smooth. It did take me a few minutes of massaging to get the tube to slide forward and slip over the stock intake tube. It was hanging on one lower corner, but just twisting/tweaking and adjusting the angle of the JLT piece that slips over, it finally popped over for a very snug fit. The tube slid all the way out so it is not protruding at all in the air box. My only little issue is when I reattached the mass air meter plug, the wire from the harness was pulled pretty tight. A little snip on the tape wrapping the wire harness where the wire comes off the main harness gave me just enough slack as to not pull too tight on the plug. All in all, very nice product and install took maybe 30 minutes. I didn't receive the firewall plug(for the sound tube delete) as mentioned on here somewhere that it was included, but the paperwork did not list it as an included piece. Not really worried, but will give JLT a shout to see if they'll send me one to have as an extra. I put a nice plug on the hole last week, so I already had that covered when I removed my sound tube.

Looks great man.
Give us a call on the plug, we didn't include them in the first batch as we didn't have the exact size and it's nearly impossible to get to. We'll get you one.

So people wonder why I don’t come into situations like this differently and here’s why.
1) Most people who have an issue with something out of the ordinary are usually doing something wrong.
2) Most people who take the time to go to forums, take pictures, upload pictures, post a thread, link pictures, come back every few minutes or hours saying they are trying but it will not fit are usually not skilled to install the part but better at computers.
3) The most important reason I didn’t come in here kissing butt and be the Walmart Customer Service rep where the customer is always right and never wrong is because we can’t afford that and 99.9% of the time installer error is the issue.

We get very very few returns on our products because those that call for help get help, but we have one vendor who takes anything back like Amazon or Target because people know they'll take it back easy pesy.
So far 99.998% of all their returns are unwarranted. That's the world we live in now, can't figure it out? It's junk, return it.

People don’t realize how a thread like this can sway potential customers to another brand. Posting threads about a part without contacting the manufacture can have adverse affects on that company for no reason other than the installer was not qualified to be installing that part. Why should that hurt the company?

I don’t feel I did anything crazy here other than ask “why did you go through all this before contacting me?”
For that I got attacked for bad customer service. How can it be bad service if as I’m floating around the internet I stumble across a thread where someone is making it out that our product doesn’t fit his car and he is upset with us?
That not having the chance to give ANY service.

So anyway, the part was finally return to me today and I opened it right away. Actually Marissa at the front counter opened it and brought it back to me.
It’s not a first run that is a little thick as we suspected, it’s a current run part as designed.

I had to run home to get the kids off the bus, so I tried it on my 2015 and here are the results.

Now I know someone is bound to tell me how unprofessional this is, but back up a minute.
I have the right to defend my product and company image especially in a situation where someone makes it out to be bad.

It brings in the internet bandwagon jumpers. People who post stuff just get in on the fight like
"That's why I'm waiting for xxx"
"You shouldn't talk to him like that, you should..."
"I will not buy your product based on this response"

Let's look at what the OP said about the JLT product before asking for help

People that installed JLT intake,

I am wondering does the fresh air duct in the lower air box actually connect to the air inlet in the grille? Or I just need to line it up? I have been struggle with the connection for over an hour, no matter what I do I can't seem to slide the JLT air duct into the grille duct.:frusty:

thanks for the help!
thanks! I just need to keep trying.
after another hour of struggle, I finally realize why it is not working.:mad::mad::mad: A 30 mins job becomes 3 hours.

I took the pipe off the box and try to connect it to the inlet pipe directly, it doesn't even fit!!, the hole doesn't even line up.

so much for a 350$ intake. I thought JLT intake is the best, guess not.
:frusty::frusty::frusty:
That's what I plan to do next. I just feel with this price point the product should have a better quality control. More than likely I will need to pay the return shipping to get this fixed.
I just did it for test fitting purpose, the shape doesn't really match. For me it will not fit either way. I pretty much took the whole bumper apart and try to force the tube to connect, and it still won't fit.

Tried everything, the fitting is way off. I even tried to hammer the damn thing in. I believe there is probably a bad batch during the manufacturer proceed. there is almost a quarter inch difference mismatch in height.

As you see in the video I do not use a hammer, take the bumper off or take 3 hours to install it. I did it with my hands in seconds.

Note, I run the thicker duct from the first run that I said was a little harder to fit, but it like .10 thicker, not 1/4 or .250.

Look, I can't get my printer to print sometimes, but I don't go on a forum complaining about Brothers Printers, I call Brothers and get help and usually it's my fault.

Please take this as a positive thing not a negative and remember

says it all, thread closed???
Guess you didn't read all the info or watched the video.

Some were thicker than was wanted and "a little" harder to install. If this was one of those he would have a new one on the way, but nope.

Also note, I run the thicker one? It just takes effort and very little at that.

No need for a recall as none have been replaced yet, but willing if someone is not able to squeeze.

Bottom line, this guy made us look bad and he didn't know what he was doing. It's a 2 way street guys. :headbonk:

How can the man possibly look bad for defending his company? It's honestly a shame and down right embarrassing that some so called enthusiasts can't even handle a simple CAI install... For me, I'm 45 and I realize that at some point in time I wasn't the sharpest knife in the drawer too, but back then we had to figure stuff out. We couldn't run to the internet for help, we were forced to figure it out on our own. If that didn't work we would call the tech line then next business day.
