@gone_n_60 and @Bluemustang I found the problem! They were glazed!!

I sanded the pads down starting with 80 grit, then 120 grit, then 240 grit! The glaze is tough stuff, took a while sanding by hand in figure 8 patterns. I've only driven them maybe 10 miles but the squealing is gone and honestly they feel much better under the pedal!

Before and after pic!

Yepper. Problem is it kept happening for me and I'm not on the brakes on the track unless I'm in a braking zone where I need to be. I did get them just for track use.

These are the GS-1? Yeah I glazed them on the street after a romp around some back roads like I mentioned. I could smell them. I don't recommend doing what I did, as I was driving excessively fast for a short burst. Not safe on my part- I got too exuberant. Still, I don't think they should do that... I could smell them too.

If you are glazing them then you are are on them too much. Do you do events with an Instructor? Rotor paint is your friend to determine what temps you are seeing on track. I would just use the most aggressive sand paper and stop there.
No I took these on track because a friend gave me 2 sessions of his! Should not have been out there on them but I wasn’t going to say no! I have R12/10 for track duty!

Yes these are GS-1, I glazed them on track! I was being stupid and went out of track on whim with these on! Wasn’t going to turn down 2 free track sessions lol!

Well these are my GS-1 pads, shouldn’t have been at the track on them but oh well!

Oh yeah... these pads cannot handle that. They are street pads only. At minimum, R10/R8 is the play. You F'd around and found out 😆

Hey all,

I know this isn't G-Loc related but I feel we have some good knowledge here! I am looking at getting a set of the OEM pads. How strong is the initial bite, compared to G-Loc GS-1s?

Thanks!

The OEM PP pads are very nice. Good bite. They are a good compromise probably for street and track, although faster guys doing longer sessions will need more. For you, this may be the ticket.

Yeah that's what most track guys usually say. I never needed them because all I've done so far is Trackcross, they call it - essentially autocross on the road course. Only 90 second runs at a time, so R10/R8 worked great for me, as well as the OEM PP pads.

Trackcross and intro (read: slow) HPDE is what I grabbed the R10 R8 combo for as well. You don’t happen to do your trackcross at summit point, do you?

Yes I did. Done Summit Point and also Dominion Raceway down in Virginia. I've been out maybe 5 or so times. I'm a beginner so folks should take my knowledge with a large grain of salt. But, the car was pretty quick. I've usually finished in the top 3 in my class and top half or top quarter of drivers overall. I want to do HPDE but the car isn't ready for that. My car is a Base GT and so, I'll need a larger radiator at a bare minimum I reckon, if I want a chance at finishing a full session.
