I won't highjack this thread but self defense is a human right, not paranoia.
And now, back to your regularly scheduled license plate blurring discussion.

It is so apparent how few people have actually held a firearm, let alone shot it.

Don't think anyone in Hollywood, for sure...

I guess to be discrete rather than blatant. That's my thought. Not so much my personal info although that is always a concern as well.

Protecting your privacy and the privacy of others is fine. Discretion is always a noble endeavor, but when taken to the extreme, it forces you to live in fear of being hurt or having your things taken away. What kind of life is that?

That's what we need... more paranoid people carrying guns.

OK, that's going to get me in trouble.

Funny thing is when you carry you really don't have any reason to be paranoid.
The business end of a 45 says F*** YOU in every language.
I have worked solo on the US / Mexican border at night for years.

Here in Canada, its unheard of to carry, unless you belong in a gang.
Yep, when the God given right to self defense is given up only gangs (Government approved or otherwise) carry guns...

If you're blurring your plate, you're probably also reposting that Fbook crap that says if you don't, you'll have bad luck.
My plate is XFIVE-0 .... Come at me bro.
I'm gonna blur my genitals from now on so no one knows what I'm packin.

...did you know... Smart cops know this and people with half a brain :
If I wanted your address and phone number etc, it takes only a few half witted phone calls to places like:
Dominos pizza, papa johns, Pizza Hut, blockbuster(old days), you name it... Multitude of businesses that you use everyday and have all kinds of your info, I pretend to be you and I have you. If I have your name, I have your address and vice versa.
Believe it or not, fast talking and a good bullshiter can intimidate, coerce or con all your info from most people. Even still...nowadays.
Plates, plate frames, stickers on any cops (or ex) about them being law enforcement on their private rides shows real good judgement. Hoping that plate is just humor in a long thread. Nothing wrong with anyone taking an addl 5 sec to crop out personal info on the web. Cant see why you as an ex cop would be busting these guys balls over it.

I'd say after four pages, the OP has a pretty good idea on why folks keep their plates out of web pics and why others don't, haha

On an aside,

This sentiment always reminds me of how nice it must be to be a firefighter. They get a special plate with the silhouette of a heroic firefighter with the backdrop of fire.

They get to be proud of their profession. Cops have to hide theirs.

Seems jacked up.

:headbonk:
