I got these in today and did a test fit. The PP brakes clear with no issues. The back of the wheel has about an inch clearance to the shock.

I currently have a squared 20x10 wheels on my S197, with 295s on all fours. Suffice to say, the car handles like shit. So I am now going with 20x8s in the front with 255s tires.

What do you mean the by the car handles like shit? is it the low profile or the wide tire your complaining about?

Low profile 295/35/20s. The car just doesn't handle well, the front tires tracks all imperfections on road surfaces which makes means the car doesn't want to drive straight. My car is also lowered, so front tires rubs the wheel wells when I make wide turns. Your setup should be fine.

Did you get the car properly aligned when you lowered it? I know when I lowered my '05 GT it was a pain in the ass to get it aligned. That would explain not wanting to drive straight. I wouldn't think if it was aligned properly that tires would make it pull one way or the other!

The wide tires up front are known for pulling on certain road conditions. Many factors are at play though. Wheel offset and tire design all make a difference. We had 305/35 square on my brothers s197 and the car wherever the road led it lol. Grip for days but a weird feeling on a rwd car

305 square without rubbing while making tight turns? How big were his rims?

Tramlining is to be expected with super wide fronts but that is no indicator that your car handles poorly. In fact it will be the opposite. You merely ran into why Ford does staggered setups on cars like the GT500 despite the fact that they would handle better in corners if they were squared with just as wide of tires in the front as they are in the back. If you can't handle the tramlining then by all means swap to a staggered setup, but if you go to a track event and experience understeer you'll know why.

I am hoping to get them mounted this weekend. Tires are arriving today. I have the TPMS at the Post Office

Really interested in seeing how flush they end up to the fender lines.

After running a square 275 setup on my 2004 I don't think I'd go wider than that in front for the street. It did some tramlining on rough or grooved roads, and the power steering seamed a little overwhelmed (had under-drive pulleys too) at times, but it handled very nice.

You also loose some MPG with wider tires due to increased rolling resistance and frontal area, but the front grip makes it worth it.

Thompyt, how does it handle with this setup? Any issues compared to the OE wheels/tires? Would like to see more pictures - side view would be nice. What size tires did you go with? Thanks!

John,
I haven't mounted them yet. I am going square 275/40/19. I had 275s on the front of my Vette with no issues. I hope Saturday I can get them mounted.
