I would agree, I don’t think Ford wants to crank them out like an assembly line car and would also agree the chassis probably needs some modifications. I found a Hemmings article that states a production goal of between 300-700 cars per year over the span of 2025 and 2026. The article was from June of 2024. If they’re building 1,000 cars, 500 per year doesn’t sound too unreasonable but I don’t know what Multimatic’s capacity is. Might end up being closer to 300 per year and they stretch the program over 3 years instead of the initially stated 2 years. Here’s the Hemmings article

That’s the million dollar question right there. If they have expanded the program significantly from the initial 1,000 units planned, all of a sudden it becomes a 3-5 year program instead of 2. Only Ford would be able to tell you that, at least right now. I did a quick GTD production search on Google and 1,000 units is the only number that comes up…

The production number being closer to 1000 would definitely make the asking price seem a bit more palatable. Exclusivity plays its part for sure in this msrp. I would think

Ford stated they had 6,500 initial applications on the GT when it was 1,000 planned units. So they reopened the application process and added another 350 units to production. So the number of applicants from the GT program are not far off of the 7,500 applicants for GTD. If it remains 1,000 planned units, they have some efficiencies in place to basically double the annual production rate from the GT to get all the GTD’s produced in 2 years. Would also not surprise me if they have some bottlenecks and it becomes a 3 year program instead of 2.

Exclusivity is definitely part of the price. The other major part of course is the car itself and its capabilities and the cost it takes to build a car like that.

Soo question… if you could only pick one package and they both cost the same (just for fun) what one are you going for? Carbon or Performance. Each has its perks. Carbon is cosmetic and some weight reduction maybe. Performance is well a lot of cool stuff DRS, etc.

also, do you think most will take off the magnesium wheels like a lot did with the carbon wheels on the cftp’s? Just to protect them or sell? I’m wondering if that’s something worth spending money on or go with the aluminum.

Looking to start a thread that is dedicated to those selected for an allocation to a GTD. Honestly I’m surprised I was selected and didn’t think I’d ever get an allocation but as of this morning, I was selected. I figured this would be a good page for information, updates, dealers selection for purchase, msrp discussions, options discussions and must haves. I’m sure others will have their personal threads and this is just a page to allow all GTD allocated owners to come together and express opinions and experience. I’ve got about a million questions myself so I’ll start it off.

1. How hard will it be to find a dealer willing to sell at MSRP?
2. Will there be a basic options list similar to the 05 ford GT where you will want all options available for future value appreciation?
3. How many GTD’s will there really be?
As outstanding as the 2025/2026 GTD model will be, wondering how many of you may consider cancelling your GTD allocation as an extra ~$100K would be a significant additional cost to swallow based on the recent trade wars that threaten the Canadian auto industry?
