So after having my battery unplugged for a week working on the tubular K-Member, after plugging it all back in I got the Air Bag light.

Pulled the fuse panel, used my test light for key on and key off fuses and all good. Guess I'm do for the infamous Clock Spring replacement as I found no foul play with any Air Bag wires. Unless anyone else has some ideas before I order a new Clock Spring. My car is a 2020GT with 6,800 miles.

Except one fuse is a mystery, the #20 / 5A Intruder fuse does not illuminate with my test light for key on or key off. What is this?

My FordPass app has informed me that my SRS is disabled.

I noticed from your signature you have the 401A package; I don't believe it includes any vehicle security systems. If so, that could be why that fuse and circuit are not active.

Interesting and thanks. I have quite a few blank areas with no fuse, wonder why they just didn't do this instead of putting a fuse there.

So what is the actual fault code that is stored? Did you have the steering shaft disconnected and spin it around while it was off?

No codes, ran two different scanners and nGauge scan. Steering shaft was never disconnected. I only disconnected the battery for some suspension work. Didn't do anything electrical. Was just driving to dinner on Friday, light came on. I disconnected the battery again for the night, light still came back on. A code would have been nice so it can send me where I need to go.

This won’t show as a DTC. To read the code requires something like IDS or Forscan.
Unless you like spending money on guesses, you will need to find out what the code says. If you didn’t touch the steering, probably is not the clock spring.

This is the other diagnostic info I had posted a while back for folks rebuilding salvage S550's with airbag codes/SRS lights or non-start issues. The info within may also be helpful.
https://www.mustang6g.com/forums/th...cident-or-salvage-repair.165362/#post-3364334

----
Check these 2 areas for SRS issues that may trigger the air bag light, threads below for reference.

Knee air bag connections:
https://www.mustang6g.com/forums/threads/2018-gt-airbag-light-on-cluster.107200/page-3#post-3333786

Overhead map light air bag "jewel":
https://www.mustang6g.com/forums/threads/2018-gt-airbag-light-on-cluster.107200/page-2#post-3017970

The S550 airbag system is very complex and any hard fault code reset needs to be performed using a proper scan tool that is equipped to reset air bag codes because airbag faults are totally separate from the normal DTC faults.

The SRS light and codes can be reset by a Dealership using the Ford IDS system OR I believe some M6G members have reset SRS codes using the Forscan device too.

The below charting was applicable to the 2015-2017’s. Some may still be applicable to the 2018+, but there have been many production changes after 2017 so use caution.

Holy Hell! Thanks for this information. I need to look into that.

This is my 6th Mustang and had to do clock springs on all of them, just assumed this was another one.

Let me go through this checklist first.

Mine failed the passengers side airbag due to the resistance check. Luckily it was under warranty.

The sensor that detects a passenger? It was on always even with no passenger?

No, apparently the module tests the resistance in the circuit to each airbag. Too high and it’s probably a bad connection; too low and it’s probably an internal short. Mine was too low, so the airbag itself had to be replaced. I was able to diagnose myself with forscan following the pinpoint test, and was going to repair myself due to low cost of parts and hassle of getting a dealer to repair. But when I saw how much work it was to replace, I decided to get the dealer to do it. The dealer tried to void the warranty first based on time (they were wrong) then based on the supercharger making it difficult to connect to IDS, but ultimately covered it.

And just to add for those that are unaware -

The Ford Warranty for the SRS system is 5 years or 60,000 miles (whichever comes first). This is outlined in every owners manual as well as the Ford Warranty & Policy Manuals distributed to every Franchised Ford Dealer.

If anyone gets a Dealer that tries to deny such repair because of other totally unassociated mods that have nothing to do with the SRS system - call the Ford 800 # and file a complaint. Also contact the NHTSA directly and file a complaint with them as well explaining you’re being denied repair on legit SRS inop issues that are still covered under said warranty (IF you’re still within the warranty period).

IMO:
The SRS system should be a lifetime warranted system for as long as the vehicle is legally registered. Original owners do hold on to vehicles for longer than 5yr/60k miles - and if the system has a fault, it should be the responsibility of the manufacturer. I also feel the same RE software updates for any hardware that is associated with any important operational function of daily driving.

Good point, I'm sure once they hear my Procharger they will deny and say it's been tuned. Where I live they are really strict on modding cars. Hell, I can't even get anyone to do an alignment. Saying it's too low (has 1" front 3/4" rear BMR springs) and don't want to be responsible. I used to get a lot of work done at Steeda when it was local, they moved to GA.

So I looked over all the info posted above from Cobra Jet.

My dome light assembly is really loose. I mean I did replaced those bulbs with LED's months ago but I just took off the plastic bulb covers. I didn't try to drop the entire dome light assembly. I wonder if the wires are worn from vibration. More investigation required here.

I don't know exactly what I'm looking for under the knee air bag. All my Fore Innovations wiring is going through that driver side firewall area back to the distribution block under the rear seat. So there is a lot going on. I put my phone under there and recorded all up in there. Didn't see anything out of place.

What I'm going to do to so I'm looking in the right place is order a FORscan ELM327 adapter. Just to take the guess work out.
