Pretty car. Issue’s I’d have, not necessarily deal breakers, but concerns would be the four owners. The headers and the tune that would’ve been done would be the big one for me. The car would do better if it was back to stock. Not sure I’d save a few grand over one owner car though.

Agree, I’d avoid tuned/modded where you can as you just don’t know prior owner care / history. If part of this community and you can verify certain things, that’s a diff story…but I’d happily pay a bit more for mostly stock…and I really appreciate seeing mods where it shows the PO was aware and cared (stuff like catch can, etc).

If you’re gonna drive it though, I think 10K miles is a nice sweet spot - enough miles to remove any collector premium, but still a baby.

Link to the car is expired and didn't read the whole thread but I owned one last year, got totaled, intending to get another, but realized prices definitely jump headed into Summer (probably normal for this type of car). I'm sure someone linked the red 2017 on BaT that sold for $90k recently ... that's simply someone with more money than brains. BaT is a great place to go overpay for a car but the usual 200-300 pictures and potentially-vicious peanut gallery can be a real benefit to the buyers

I recently saw a local blue no-stripe 2019 R in good shape, no problems with history, ~10k miles for $69k, sold within 48 hours at a Ford dealer. That seems like a realistic deal in today's market. I guess I wouldn't buy a pre-19 at all but if I did, it would have to be a better value proposition than that ^
Regarding that 2017 red GT350R on BaT, I was the 2nd highest bidder on that car. I bid it to $90K and was outbid at $90,500. Granted it was a well documented car, well cared, completely documented, rarer color combo and included a huge investment in PPF and ceramic. It was my first attempt at purchasing on BaT and yes, the price did go higher than it should have. The next week, I was able to buy a 2017 GT350R with 2,400 miles, one owner car for $72,500 which I feel was a good deal (not a steal, but a solid deal). However, the $72,500 car had no PPF or ceramic, original style oil filter, , I’ll be doing a full detail, light correction, and ceramic, it also needs needs new tires. The car has some paint chips, on the front bumper which I’ll be correcting. Only driven the car about 30 miles so far, but it’s AMAZING. I’ve also got a 2019 Mustang GT PP1 track car that I’ve been modifying. It is very fast around a road course. Can’t wait to compare both on the track.
On another note, finding and buying these GT350R’s is not as easy as it might appear. Hind sight is 20/20 and it’s one thing to comb through past sales and spot the “deals”. It’s much different in practice - in real time. Find the right color, one with the mileage and history desired, without damage. If going retail, dealing with dealers who sold the car two weeks ago and just haven’t taken the ad down yet or private sellers who are so in love with their cars they won’t budge on price or even return calls for that matter. I had the hardest time getting in touch with an individual seller on Autotrader. He said he was getting so many spam calls and low-ballers, he couldn’t tell which callers were serious and he wouldn’t budge on his $80k+ price. At least on BaT, for the most part, when the hammer goes down, the deal is done. I felt the process was fair, fun and worthy of the time I spent. Used the Verified Check-out process which worked fine. Shipping of the car all the way across the country took exactly 1 week from the time I placed the shipping order. I’d certainly use BaT again, and would just be more disciplined with my bidding.

I was watching both the red 17 and white one you got. I think you got a great buy. The white one with 1800 miles last week was bought by a dealer for 73k. He'll put it in his showroom for around 80k to 85k and sell it.

oooof…if I was in the market, that one would be tough to ignore. LOVE the color combo, and I look at having headers and tune as saving me the 2+ grand to add them myself 😉

Quick update. Unfortunately due to a recent injury, my plans have changed. I’ve now shifted my search to a GT500 given my concerns about being healthy enough to drive a manual.

I found a decent car near me that I’ll be looking at today. Three owners but clean carfax and low miles. Will keep everyone updated on if I decide to pull the trigger.

I hope to secure a R in a few years but sadly the timing isn’t right. Appreciate everyone’s input and help throughout this!

here’s the car I’m going to look at if anyones intersted:

Thought you might be interested in this CarGurus listing:

Update! Saw the GT500 today and it was a decently clean spec. Had a few minor rock chips but nothing out of the ordinary. Ford performance blue is wayyy nicer in person than I expected. Pictures just don't do it justice.

Aiming to pull the trigger by the weekend and will post a picture if I'm able to make the deal happen.
