Possibly Upgrading Infotainment From 4" Base To 8" SYNC 3 w/Nav, etc

It is time for Part 2 of this tragedy of three parts. I have the new screen, and will proceed to remove the cracked screen from the APIM. It's pretty easy.

The photo does not capture the crack, despite the fact you can see it from across the dang room.

Step one, I remove the harness that holds the screen + APIM unit to the dash. There are 2 (identical) parts to this harness, right and left. They are both held on the the screen (not the APIM) by 2 screws. Note that the screw is some kind of star shaped screw. It probably has a name, but I don't know it. Luckily, I got all kinds of tools.

This is the screen/APIM turned over, APIM up. You know it has navigation if somebody wrote "NAV" with a sharpie. Perhaps I'll write "GIRLFRIEND" on my gal's arm. Just so I can be sure.

The digital dash would be super cool.

I have the digi dash in the Mach1. Not impressed. Spend some time with one before you go deeper down the road of digital temptation. You may in fact lose your soul.

The APIM is attached to the screen with 3 regular phillips head screws.

In English it's called a bracket. Some wires with plugs on their ends is a harness.

Or a collection of leather straps binding you to your master so that you may haul loads, is also a harness. If the box you're moving says "fresh souls" your master is the one you feared.
