The panels removed reveal 2 7mm screws (on each side) that help fasten the console to the rest of the car. Be careful with these, they can easily pop right off.
Once those 4 screws are removed, I open the console locker and start prying it up, starting at the back. This does not come off easy. A yellow pry tool is shown in the photo.
A short interlude in regards to the console USB hub. It is difficult to remove. Here is a picture of the entire assembly. Note the clips on all 4 sides.
except the voice commands work better on the 4".
I've had an 8" kit on the shelf for 4 years now. Maybe your pictorial will finally inspire me to make the tradeoff. Maybe.
However, the only piece I require is the actual hub. Note the clips on the side. They are very hard to get too when inside the console. But if you can get those 2 clips, it pops right out. I had to take a walk after it was done.
Anyway, I pull out the female USB connector. In my case, I will not be using that again. It will simply exist in the purgatory of the console, doing nothing, seeing nothing, but hearing everything.
Pro tip life hack: wash your hands a lot if you do this. This keeps you clean, and the car clean as well. I also cleaned the panels that were removed, and wiped down the exposed interior parts. This is likely the only time some of these will see the light of day, so take the time to clean.
