So I called my ford dealer and asked them if I upgrade my exhaust to ford racing models will it ruin my warranty. A resounding YES. as In F U, and no you can't use FACTORY parts on your car. Not even if they install them etc.

WHAT THE HELL IS UP WITH THIS??!

There are a lot of varying opinions out there on this topic. My dealership said the opposite, regardless of the exhaust make and whether it be catback or axle-back.

Find a different dealership. No mods will void your warranty. If a mod causes a failure, that particular repair may or may not be covered.

no, there is no use calling Dealers.

there is someone of the :ford: Service Team in this Forum

I am sure as part of a premium Service ( i can clearly remember talk about Benchmark and BMW M3/M4 and Porschen 911) they will be glad to help and give a clear Statement, what can be modified without ruinning the warranty and what can't:thumbsup:

^ This. My '13 was in for service once under the standard warranty and twice under Ford's ESP. My aftermarket exhaust, which wasn't even dealer installed, was never called into question.

FULL DISCLOSURE: The repairs I had done were not drivetrain related, so the exhaust shouldn't have been in the equation anyway. Still, I believe the above statement is correct.

That last part is very subjective.

If you've got an aftermarket exhaust, and, say, your MyFordTouch stops working... the dealership can say "well, the exhaust caused more vibration in the car than the stock exhaust, and that loosened connections in the infotainment wiring and so this isn't covered under warranty because it was caused by your aftermarket exhaust."

And then good luck finding an attorney to take your case to get the dealership to cover the $1,500 repair under warranty.

This topic has and does get exhausted. From what i have heard/been told by various people, as long as the mod you make to the car doesnt SPECIFICALLY cause said issue, then the warranty still covers THAT particular one. Now, say you throw on headers and you have 0xygen sensor issues, they may not cover that due to the headers replacing/moving the OEM o2 sensor. Just my two cents, but it is what my sales rep at my dealership told me last night when i bought my 2015 GT.

EDIT- some others above beat me to this with a similar response.

In terms of exhaust the only way to void your warranty is if you remove your cats. An axle back or cat back system will not void your factory warranty.

Leave it to the lawyer to find bullshit reasoning. How could they possibly prove that the catback caused additional vibration AND that the vibration actually caused those things?

Sorry but I'm with Jimmy (assuming he's not being sarcastic). You can all call it bullshit, nonsense, etc etc... Whatever you like. But the bottom line is that it's not a black and white issue and it depends heavily on the specific dealership.
