Do any of you guys have issues with your Universal Garage Opener? Mine seems extremely weak. I have to drive up about 1 foot away from my garage door to open it sometimes. This is pretty cumbersome.

If it would work like the manual said. My opener isn't working at all. I have to program it old style today with "pushing" the button on the "motor - unit" - running into the car and push the button there. That is so "cheap".

I can't even get mine to pair. :frusty:

I called up HomeLink to walk me through it, but even they were baffled.

I'll have the Ford dealership try to do the initial remote pairing (where it fails, even with fresh batteries and a new remote) when I go in for my first oil change.

I use the Chamberlain MyQ opener through my phone...automatically opens my garage when I drive down my street. Works great! There are other GPS enabled openers avaliable too...pushing a button to open your garage is so 2013...lol

I can tell you from my own experience, that some of the new openers, use different frequencies that are not recognized by our cars. I have one of the new high end Chamberlain's. Our Subaru, Honda, Jeep and previous Ford F-150 cannot link up with this unit. We conferred with our dealerships and the folks who installed the opener on numerous occasions. The outfit who installed the Chamberlain opener finally gave us our money back after all of the service calls where they were not able to link the unit with our cars. We're now just using the associated remotes for the Chamberlain which are clipped to our sun visors. I can't imagine why some of the manufactures of the new openers chose to use different frequencies that aren't recognized by today's vehicles. I should've just kept my old Chain Drive Pilot garage door opener. We only changed it because it was started to get quite noisy. That unit linked up with no issues.

Mine works when I'm a foot from the door. If I try from father away, the garage door won't even open at all, even a foot away.

I don't own your garage door opener, but I was looking at buying one a few months back and saw some reviews saying that you need this to make it work with newer cars: http://www.amazon.com/Liftmaster-85...19825794&sr=8-1&keywords=chamberlain+homelink

I haven't had first hand experience with it, but have you tried it? It seems that it just pairs to your garage door and then you pair your car to it so theoretically it should extend the signal as well. Hope this helps

S550 has the newest HomeLink

The 2015 Mustang has the newest version of HomeLink, Generation 5, and is the most compatible with the current garage door openers. It still must be paired by pushing the button with certain garage door openers because the garage door opener itself has old technology.

Range is affected by the position of the visor to the garage door opener. Your new 2015 Mustang has a lower roof and the transmitter can't transmit through metal, so you may notice issues if the line of sight from your garage door opener to the HomeLink module is through your roof.

If you have problems pairing with your garage door, see www.homelink.com or the Ford youtube videos:

HomeLink questions

PM me if you have specific questions, I work for the company that makes HomeLink. The transmitting power of the HomeLink in the S550 is equivalent or better than older verions.

Mine works from farther away than the remotes that came with the door openers did. I have genie, not sure which model.

Hoping the range of operation is at least the same as what I have now with my H_A...I'm able to open the door from 6 houses away.

My opener is 'Lift Master'...Any one else with one, problems?
