'15 GT or wait for Focus RS?

The wife dailys the focus, it's pretty heavily modified, all in all, a great car. May end up paying it off and picking up an RS also.

You know once you see the RS start to make its appearance you'll need to add one in the driveway ha. I think it would bother me a little if I owned an ST and didn't have the RS. Same goes for the GT. If I buy the GT then once the GT350 comes out I'll want that. Kinda need the top model even though the base model of these cars is more than adequate.

Was wondering if I'd hear from any FiST owners. I like them but I'm not crazy about the interior of the Fiesta in general. I much prefer the Focus but the FiST is a fantastic little machine. If I could swing it I would probably get one and just get the damn V8 that I know I want in the GT but can't quite swing two car payments right now.

Actually debating on putting half down on the GT and keeping the Cruze for lousy weather but I just don't know. I need to see this RS before I sign anything. Who knows, it may not be as appealing as I think it will be but I don't think I can buy the GT without at least getting more information on the RS.

Hmm that link you sent didn't work. I love the exterior of the Camaro but I just couldn't spend 40k with the current interior so that's why I kinda ruled it out of my search but if Chevy made something that looked even half as refined and nice as the new Mustang I'd be interested. I'm so over the retro style interior (Mustang has a hint of retro but also modern) of the Camaro. Plus the blue and red colors are terrible to me so I am not even considering a Camaro right now.

But perhaps at the auto show they'll (Chevy) will show us something that'll catch my eye. I'm just counting the days until I can hopefully see the RS. You're right though, looks like we're in a waiting period if we hold out for Camaro news...

You have to remember that the car is based on Fords lowest car line.

Very true, that's almost why I thought of buying another ST and just save for the GT so I'd have two great cars to drive but I'm not that patient so I want one really good one now. I could probably live with the FiST for a while until I saved for the GT or GT350 but it would still take years and I don't have that in me.

You have a nice combination of rides there, wouldn't be a hard day behind the wheel of either one imo. Ford definitely learned a lot with the FoST and it shows in the FiST but they can only do so much since you're right, it's based on their lowest model. It's nice to hear you have such praise for the little guy though, very cool.

The current Focus ST weights 3223 lbs and if we assume the new RS to weight the same and 320hp 320 lbft torque with AWD it will be pretty awesome. Definitely faster than a ecoboost mustang and most likely faster 0-60 than the GT. You can also fit 4 adults with ease in that car. It still will be in the wrx sti category but if you tune it then you ll end up with a beast. However the New GT PP is already a beast even on the road course;)

The New Ford Focus RS is Going Global, Including the U.S.

It may be the most anticipated model ever to arrive in the U.S., but it’s not an import car. When the new Ford Focus RS is offered for sale, it will be available in major markets around the world, including the U.S.1

The Focus RS brings it, with the performance that this segment expects, starting with the 2.3L EcoBoost® engine that will produce well in excess of 315 horsepower. This engine will be coupled to a 6-speed manual transmission. But the car is more than brute power. The engineering team developed a new Ford Performance all-wheel-drive system to take handling and traction to the next level. That includes dynamic torque vectoring to maximize traction and corner handling, while minimizing understeer.

The chassis includes performance-refined spring rated, bushings and sway bars. Unique two-mode shocks offer a firmer setting for track use, and the electric power-assisted steering has been tuned to deliver connected and responsive steering with outstanding feel.

For the best off-the-line performance, the driver can select launch control. This lets the car be launched in first gear at full throttle and the system manages the torque through the all-wheel-drive system providing maximum acceleration for the available traction.

The exterior appearance details of the Focus RS create a performance image that the car lives up to with a unique front grille, front fascia, 19-inch wheels and stance. In fact, key elements of the design provide additional performance, including a rear diffuser, front spoiler and rear spoiler, which contribute to zero lift overall for optimum high-speed handling. The large front opening enables more airflow for engine cooling, and brake ducts are incorporated into the frontend design.

The interior appointments include heavily-bolstered, partial-leather covered Recaro sport seats, a new steering wheel with a race-inspired, flat-bottom steering wheel and a series of additional gauges above the center console that show turbocharger boost pressure, oil temperature and oil pressure. The RS design theme can be seen in the seat stitching, floor mats and interior trim, and the RS logo is incorporated into the seats, steering wheel and door scuff plates.

The new Ford Focus RS is one of 12 new performance vehicles that we are bringing to market now through 2020. That includes the all-new Ford GT. shown for the first time at the 2015 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS). The Ford Focus RS will be among these new models, and they will join the existing lineup of Fiesta ST, Focus ST, Shelby® GT350R Mustang and F-150 Raptor.

Why would anyone assume that the Focus RS with the addition of AWD and most likely bigger brakes, heavier duty transmission, wheels, will weigh the same?

Cause they learned their lesson in the new mustang and they are smart enough not to do it again Besides Golf r and sti both are in 3200 to 3300 lb range so lets assume the best.

No idea what you're trying to say. What lesson? Isn't this Focus RS on the same platform the current Focus is on and not a new one? If so, it's not going to weigh as little as the Focus ST. Regardless, I'm still very intrigued. I'd be fine with more weight of it's refined/quieter.

If I didn't already have a GT, I would hold off on ordering until I test drove one of these. Dead serious. The ST is serious fun, so I can only imagine what this is like. I'm also in love with its looks. I'd get that blue paint in a heart beat.
