The above applies to all Australia S650 customers waiting for their car.
Be thankful you didn't put a deposit down for a Darkhorse only to find out a year later that the Australian edition of the Darkhorse will cost $20k above the GT for a whopping 2KW and -2Nm.

There was a lot of unhappy people when that was announced.

Oh trust me, I was right there as the shit hit the fan, there are STILL a lot of upset people and many cancelled orders. Ford really shot themselves in the foot with Darkhorse.

What breed of grass is prevalent in your area? My yard is is a mix of zoysia and centipede which is typical for north Florida but you can also find Bermuda (couch grass to you all) and St Augustine here as well.
In Australia we have 3 main species, all with different names to the US (except the one you classify as a weed).

Buffalo = St Augustine
Kikuyu = pretty sure this is classed as a noxious weed in most states. makes a great lawn though
Couch = Bermuda Grass (my personal least favourite grass variety)
Zoysia is slowly gaining popularity but it's a fair way behind the top 3.

I'm in NSW which is sort of the middle of the east coast, we have all 3 types in equal-ish ratios. Though the running joke is to congratulate people on their new Kikuyu lawn whenever they lay buffalo.

Further north in QLD, Couch is more prevalent as it's warmer up there. They also have something called QLD Blue Couch which isn't really a couch grass.

South (where DFB is) has slightly cooler season grasses, you'll get a bit more Buffalo and Zoysia down there, and the occasional Ryegrass lawn for the real enthusiasts.
Ok, so I mow lawns and sell lawns for a living, I've cut more grass than I care to remember, and its help pay for my car addiction, so I both love and hate lawns.

Echoing amkr's post -

Kikuyu - some plant this intentionally, most get no choice. This is by far the toughest lawn you can have, but also the toughest to mow and keep out of your garden beds. It also gets extremely thick, meaning mowing it by hand is a hard going. Where I live, it does go yellow over winter. Virtually a noxious weed. Because of the durability, you will often find this used in public spaces/parks/school yards ect.

Couch - another noxious weed in my opinion, extremely wear resistant though. Again, where I live, it tends to go yellow in the winter. If you like a nice flat, low cut lawn, Couch is your answer though. Both Couch and Kikuyu are running grasses.

Buffalo (St Augustine) - less vigorous than the above, but still in a matting/running style of growth. It's thick and lush over the summer, but goes brown through winter. It's lovely to walk on and can look amazing when well kept.

Tall Fescue - my favorite, it stays green all year round, is easy to cut and looks lush when cut nice and tall. But its also the least drought tolerant, least wear resistant, and prone to weed infestation because of the lack of runners. The newer semi-running types of Fescue (Spyder) are more durable though, and the lawn we sell the most of these days.

Would you believe I can smell the difference of each of the above when mowed? Each has a distinct aroma after being freshly cut, Buffalo is sweetly scented, Kikuyu almost sickly sweet, Fescue is somewhat more acrid, Couch hard to describe I can tell the difference. Above all else, the scent of a cut lawn smells like MONEY!! 💰🤑💸💴💲💲Which means more detailing products!🎉🥳

I can’t stand buffalo, above ground runners turn it into a huge suspension web over time. It’s an absolute nightmare of a grass.

it’s fussy with herbicides, it’s really prone to thatching, I find it really scratchy too.

I’m a much bigger fan of couch grasses, I even prefer my kikuyu out back to buffalo (my kikuyu is cut at 11mm at the moment, it really comes up money with a bit of tlc).

im surprised you get a lot of fescue down that way, I’d have thought it would be more rye. Ive some fescue in a section of my yard, boy is that a nice grass! Ultra fine leaf, dark green and super soft!

I’m going to try a bit of Kentucky blue grass next winter, I’ve heard that comes up extremely well too!

and yes, I can definitely smell the difference between the 3 grass types I’ve got at home! Kikuyu is definitely the sweetest smelling!

Does this mean DFB's Cabinet has grass in it? Uh no wait...what...?
He did say “weed” 💨 🤣
Let's see him try to explain this.

So can the neighbours my friend :giggle::wink:
Funny you mention the neighborhood and the storage of a certain grass.

So, for many years in mid/late Autumn there is this strange odor in my backyard, and even the street, it would sort of signify the season for me. I could never figure it out.

That is until I my father, who may or may not have had some experience with the subject, told me that it was marijuana. Then it clicked, the guy over the back from me grows a "personal crop" every year. I had a cheeky gig over the back fence, and sure enough, there were several large pots of the stuff, covered with shade cloth. Because they were in the bud drying phase, the air gets spikes with its strange acrid aroma, not unlike cat urine. And I'm not talking from someone smoking it, the scent of the plant itself.

I threatened to call the cops, mainly because the smell is so overpowering and unpleasant. But I was told not to, that it was a "personal crop" and of no harm. We'll see.

Ok it's 30k more but you'll find that somehow. And it's 55k km which I know you're not keen on but look at it from the perspective that in 10 years of Jaaaag ownership given the km you do it'll only be at 56k km while all others will be at 156km :giggle:. And it's a forever car that'll always be special for the right reasons vs a car that'll just be interesting because it's (potentially) the last of its type.
Look what I found..........................

2006 Aston Martin V8 Vantage $98,990 - Lorbek Luxury Cars

Tried a new product that arrived last week yesterday. I was impressed at how slick it is on the paint and it left a nice streak free finish. It's a little pricey especially since it only comes in the 16 oz bottle. Absolute is a lot more economical and will remain as my primary for now. And I got a gallon of DIY Rinseless as well. Damn black Friday sales

Yeah, it's pricy here too, but it's certainly in the upper echelon of rinse-less washes.

Black Friday got me too............................................

Black Friday Sale 2- Obsessed Garage

I have to say, I ordered this last Monday, 7 days later it arrived from Lady Lake Florida!

When OG launched their vacuum solution, think of it like the wall mounted vacuum version of their pressure washer system, the comment was that "no one makes or sells good vacuum accessories". I thought, well will see about that, and then proceeded to spend multiple hours discovering that in fact, no did sell a good accessory package for car detailing.

Sure, after trawling the internet, I found most of what I wanted spread across several vendors, all asking for varying amounts of shipping to piece it all together. In the end, I just waited until the OG package was in stock and on sale for Black Friday, then just splurged and got it all in one hit.

I have to say, this is an underserved market in Australia. As mentioned, nothing like this exists in total, and even with my online shopping prowess, I was left unrewarded.

I would say vacuuming is my least favorite detailing task, so having the good attachments to make the job quicker and easier is a high priority. Of the above, I love how the round brush attachment has longer bristles than what I could find locally, and the white brush attachment looks like it would be very useful. As is the turbo attachment for cleaning floor mats and the extra-long and flexible crevice tool, ideal for dealing the narrow space between the center console and seats.

Not pictured, but I also splurged another four of the Griot's dispensing spouts, so so good.

And because I'm completely stupid, I think this may be the only two bottles of the special edition Koch Chemie GF-X in Australia. One bottle for use, one to keep.

Koch Chemie Gfx (Gentle Snow Foam X-Mas) | Car Soap | Obsessed Garage

This limited edition version of GSF was launched specially for the US market only, Obsessed Garage getting the lions share of supply. It smells like cinnamon and pine, a heady aroma that is certainly unique among car wash soaps.

And I say all that as someone who positively hates Christmas. 👿
