Only thing left is the Steeda Bumpsteer Kit. I'm taking my car in Tuesday for an alignment and they're going to put the bumpsteer kit on, clock my suspension bushings, and look over my work for any errors.

It was a lot more work than I thought it would be, especially doing everything on jack stands without all the correct tools and only 3-5 hours a day before work or on my days off.

I’ve not got time to do a full detail at the moment, but I wanted to start to get some protection on it - so I’ve decided to split it up into parts and do it on a rota with its regular wash.

I started yesterday with a normal wash (foam and then two bucket), but went straight to the clay mitt whilst it was still wet, using a third bucket with a double concentrate / super slick wash mix (Meguiars shampoo plus).

The plan was to do the roof, A and C pillars, and the trunk lid, but that grew to include the rear fenders.

Then it rained, so I had to throw some Turtle Wax hybrid ceramic ‘wet wax’ on it.

I got an unexpected dry period today, so I managed to follow up with the standard hybrid ceramic :

Along with the matching wash, I’m very impressed with Turtle Wax hybrid ceramic family of products from a cost / speed and ease of use / longevity perspective

Hood and front fenders next wash, doors and rockers next, then front and rear bumpers to finish - a couple of hours extra per wash should see it all done in a month without having to take a day of my weekend / family time

Got delayed a little working on mine due to helping my brother out.

1st was fixing BMW’s bodywork repair after someone drove into it in a car park That was wet sanding the masking lines and general clean up of overspray. We had already refused the car back on their first attempt so figured it was better we did the final finishing work so we knew it was right without the risk of introducing more issues. He only realised once he got it home, but they also put 8 miles on it whilst it was in the body shop …

2nd was yesterday realigning / adjusting the front bumper and hood after BMW’s replacement of the charge cooler (stone damage). I took some pictures of this fix as a letter of complaint might be heading their way - mostly triggered by a quote for some additional work (damper boots) that was accepted, but then doubled …

As returned on top, as fixed on the bottom :

Back on the stang today.

Full foam and two bucket, then I got the hood, bumper top, headlights, front fenders and wing mirrors clayed, and polished using TW hybrid polish on the DA with a polishing pad.

I started by hand with the tricky bits first - some staining had started around the hood vents and badges (before on left, after on right) :

Same camera, say day, no editing and only about 20 mins between pictures - the iPhone really struggles with grabber lime …

Very happy with how it turned out, even though the sun disappeared just before the shot, the paints very good for three years old with zero correction :

Weather (and BMW jobs) permitting, doors and lower rockers will get some attention next weekend

Yesterday I replaced my windshield washer hose. When I had the poorly fitted Ford Performance hood strut fender brackets everything was fine. I guess the tweaked bracket position helped clear the washer hose on the hood. Once I replaced that bracket with the better fitting set from Redline Tuning I ended up crushing the hose

amazing how the 60's car had built in springs to help with the lift and stay. Progress eh?

I did my semi-annual convertible top treatment getting my DD convertible ready for winter. I washed the top with 303 Tonneau Cover & Convertible Top Cleaner, then put on two applications of 303 Fabric Protector after letting the car sit out in the sun. The top got up to 160 degrees in the sunshine, so it was good and dry for the Fabric Protector. This time I sprayed the first coat, then "rubbed it in" with a disposable plastic food-service glove. I just sprayed the second coat in the usual manner. I'll be interested to see whether rubbing in the first application seems to make any difference in how long the treatment seems to last. I decided to try the rubbing, because it always appears as if the Fabric Protector sits on top of the nap of the fabric.

Always a sad day when the winter wheels/tires go on. Highs are barely supposed to hit 40F next week with lows at or below freezing. Battled rain this morning too so got the summer set as clean as I could without getting soaked.

As an aside, I keep contemplating selling my 20” summer set and going down to 19’s. The car feels a bit faster on the winter set, the summer set is a bit taller than stock. I don’t know, I’ll mull it over during the winter. If I go 19” I’m going 19x10 Apex. Likely the SM-10 but might go forged too.

When I tried brushing, it was never clear to me where my last brush stroke was. In order to not miss anywhere, I overlapped too much and used way too much product. I'm sure some folks are good at it. I wasn't.

How was the replacement? My washer hose is not perfect, but still functions even though slightly crushed.

It wasn’t too bad. Removed the wheel and a bazillion clips to get the fender and the hood liners out-of-the-way. The replacement hose has all the clips preinstalled, which made it super easy to position properly.

Ok, I own a 2019 GT/CS from new, just turned 4yrs this past September.
For some stupid reason Ford put on 'BLACK' side stripes in the middle of the door and they didn't show up on Kona Blue unless the sun was directly focused on them. (Black GT/CS' has White stripes)

I found these aftermarket stripes and decided they would look so much better , so off with the black on on with new 'White' rocker stripes.

I think this is a huge improvement.

And the white stripes look terrific (especially as you've resisted the over-now fad of black wheels - wish mine were not).

picked up an unused NX2 big turbo for a good deal off facebook. it definitely wont be going on the car anytime soon but i haven't decided if i want to hold it or flip it
