Is it dumb to expect a 285/35R19 NT555R2 to hold 700whp on the street? I would primarily be doing hits from 40mph in 2nd gear but am also open to taking it to the local track. I have the PP wheels which have a 9.5in rear wheel so I believe a 285 is the widest tire I can put on that wheel. Anybody have any success with 285 tires and 700whp?

Manual tranny? would Love to hear how it performs at the drag strip.

I never had luck with them when I had my Roush … but with the proper amount of air and heat in the tire you may. You really need more sidewall to get a decent hook especially from a PD blower.

It all comes down to throttle control. I run 660+ rwhp and also run the RII in 305 width. I can still blow off the tires easily on the street (at 662rwhp). You really need to warm them up before they get sticky. They are designed to be most efficient on a prepped surface (ie a track) yet still be "street legal".

Yes, the car has a manual transmission. It is a handful in 1st and 2nd gear. Hooks okay from 3rd at 60mph.

If your set on keeping the pp1 wheels I'd run a 275/40. More sidewall for straight line traction.
I didn't find a drag radial in a 275/40. Just 285/35. I will keep looking.

From a roll race I would progressively go into the throttle rather than just mashing it?

Yep. The PD blower and 3.73s I am sure will make it challenging. I just want to see if anybody has had luck with a 285 DR and 700whp. Seems like I may need to get more tire.

Do you have a 3.73 gear out back? I run 305/45/17 ET Street R radials on my 2019 Bullitt which has the MT82-D4 and it has proven to be very difficult to get a good 60’ time out of them (even when slipping the clutch) with just 469 rwhp/434 rwtq. My best 60’ has been a 1.74 with a 7K rpm launch.

Let me know what you come up with, because I’m still trying to get this worked out myself.

The 555r2s should come in that size. I used to run them on my pp1 wheels but I switched back to indy500s. I still run the r2s in a 305 on my drag wheels.

Have ran that exact tire on 10 inch wheels with roush kit at 10psi. Mt82/373 etc.
No go in 2nd. Can roll into it but always ripped loose before redline. 3rd no issues until cold temps.

Super sports in 285/40r19 provide same level of traction, maybe bit less in 2nd. Better sidewall performance too. Sidewall is king here. The rear wheel gap sucks in 285/35r19 too. Looked awful and I'm lowered too.
