Are you talking with the supercharger? I was thinking about getting the FP half shafts but then I would lose the Roush warranty on them.

The NT555RII are about $100 cheaper in a 17" vs 19" too, but it seems every place says their a special order item.
Yes, I'm running a 3.0L whipple and I'm still on the stock axles. With the 19" Rii's, they are forgiving and if your only doing 1/2 mile events, the stick components should be fine.

I am still not quite clear on what sort of event you are running. To me, drag racing is starting from a dead stop and running through a quarter mile. Lol. You mentioned a half mile rolling start. Can you share more about this event?
I will be attending multiple events of two kinds. One is an 1/8 mile track and the other will have a 1/4 and a 1/2 track. 1/2 mile is the only one with a rolling start.

Half mile with a rolling start....what speed would you expect to attain? Mustangs have a 156 mph speed limiter.

I will be doing 1/8 and 1/4 mile drag too. Since I wont have the supercharger till the third or fourth event I was thinking of ordering the 17" NT555RII with the SVE drag comp wheels. Discount tire direct said they should be able to get them to me in about two weeks.

305/45r17 555rii should work well. I have 305/35r19s. They are very nice on the street but I would prefer more sidewall for strip use.

I only have very wide margin guesses. N/A 130ish. Supercharged I hope to be pushing the limiter. Basically at sea level but I would assume the conditions of the day will have an effect.

I have never run a 1/2 mile event. In a quarter mile pull, I gain about 15 degrees iat2. I am not sure what would happen in a 1/2 mile. You will want to start that pull as cool as you can.

My last big question I am trying to answer is what tires to use on the 1/2 mile. Do you have any idea about that? Its a completely unprepared runway. From everything I have read, I would think the A/S 3+ would be a better choice on that?

The Michelins would probably be fine...depending upon the starting speed. The DRs would be OK, too. I would probably run 30psi in the DRs for the 1/2 mile and around 20psi for the races where you start from a dead stop. My Nittos are totally smooth and steady at 130 mph.

I was looking at the GT350 half shafts but they didn't seem to list any HP rating. After my warranty is up I do have other plans so maybe it would be worth it to just go with FP from the start? I would be having someone install them so no sense in paying twice if I would just need to upgrade again in the future. From what I have read, they seem to come with their own warranty too. Is wheel hop something I would have to worry about the the FP half shafts?

This started out with tires and is ending with me giving Ford a bunch more money lol. Since we are on half shafts, what about the driveshaft? I know it can cause a bunch of damage if it goes. Should I be looking to upgrade that too?
I have about 850RW, and so far my GT350 axles are fine. Time will tell.

Anyone know how the Mickey Thompson ET Street S/S compare to the NT555RII? Nobody has the Nittos available in 305/45/17 but Mickey Thompson has those available.

There are guys that are very happy with the Mickey Thompsons. I have never used the Street SS. There have been reports that they take a lot of weight to balance and even then are prone to vibrations.

The MT ET street R absolutely sticks like glue....better than the SS or the Nittos. However, while legal for street use, they are not useable in rain and also are prone to vibration.

If you plan to only use DRs only for the 1/8 or 1/4 races, you could use MT ET R street tires in 305/45r17.....assuming you are close to the tracks. I would use the Michelins for the 1/2 mile roll race and for street use.

Another option would be Nitto 305/35R19s. They would work for everything...just not quite as good on the 1/8 or 1/4....but fine for street or 1/2 mile roll race.

I found a place that had the Street R available in 305/45/17 so I went with those. I plan on changing them at the track so I dont think they will ever see the street.
