Buying a GT350 or 24'GT-DH

Its a testament to the engineering and capabilities of the GT 350 that nearly 4 years after production it's still the standard that a proper performance Mustang is judged.

When the whole is truly special and better than the sum of its parts, has cemented it in the history books. It’s all about the total experience this special performance machine provides as a “drivers car”. It is rare occasion this happens, any brand/model/price point.

Sad part is that Carroll Shelby passed away before he could be involved with development

Although I don’t regret buying the Mach instead of a 350, it was an agonizing decision over several months, and I still occasionally have urges to test drive one again just for fun.

I have no such thoughts about the DH. Have gone onto build and price several times to put one together the way I’d order one and keep coming away with 2 thoughts. It is ugly AF, especially those hideous hood stripes, and it’s the same as my car plus $20K.

Back into a GT350 instead of the DH and I’m so glad I did. The DH wouldn’t feel the same nor sound like this. It’s completely stock with only 3100 miles. A August 2017 built car. Going to give it a fresh oil change again and fill it with the Amsoil good stuff. It was a one owner car. Barely used it. The previous owner had valvoline do it just at 3000 miles but I’m not sure what quality was put in. It just says “custom” on the sticker.

Thanks. Don’t see it as much. Most go white on black. Only 107 built in that combo that year from what I saw

One thing I don't think has really been brought up in this thread is that the DH is about 250 lbs heavier than the GT350 and also makes less power. So the fun to drive is not going to be as good with a DH.

I actually did bring up the weight adder and HP difference up several posts ago as a reason why I went back to the GT350

Saw some DH in person at the Dream Cruise last weekend. If you're in the market for a "new" mustang today - I think the DH is the way to go, mainly for the gearbox... but I don't think it has anything on the GT350, looks-wise. I can see both sides on the interior...I like the more simple 550 interior but I also do like the modern multiscreen setup..it seems like most people here do not like it.

Road Holding GT350R 1.11 vs 1.07 for Dark Horse
Mach 1 - 1.05

gt350R weight = 3717 so 250 pounds lighter
Mach 1 is 3844 so 130 pounds lighter

These are funny times. I don't prefer the look but if I was buying a new car today, for the specs, I guess a DH would be an option EXCEPT...and I've never cared much about this...I HATE the name. I would probably shop elsewhere for that reason alone...or at least cross shop.
MSRP is about what sticker was for 350Rs....that's about normal though today, as all cars have gone up for the last few years.
