I'm debating between buying a used GT350 or a new GT PP2. I could technically afford to buy a new GT350, but I tend to be a bit conservative with my money and would always prefer to spend a lot less than I can.

It looks like you can get a GT350 with low mileage in the low $50,000s in my area, and the GT PP2, which is about $5k more than the GT PP2. I'm easily willing to spend that for how special the Shelby is.

I'm worried about how a previous owner would have treated one of these cars though. Are there certain things to look for? For example, if someone abused the car during the initial break in period, would I need to be worried about engine issues right after the warranty expires? Or maybe I'm being overly cautious and should just assume that these are made for track work, and therefore shouldn't have major issues after being used like a track car.

Why worry about something you have no control over?

I get the financial side you mentioned. I had a very nice premium vert that I did a lot to. That being said, there is no comparison to my 2020 gt350. I’m not knocking my vert either, just not the same animal. I fully understand eveyone has different financial means but for me when your talking about a pleasure car for most and you’re talking about a 5-7kish difference between used with concerns and new it’s an obvious choice. I don’t spend money on Starbucks and such, I spend it on my cars.

you can get new 2018's for $53k'ish and even lower if negotiating aggressively right now. dealers want their 2018's gone yesterday. 2019's can be had for $57k'ish (or lower). check out cars.com .

i bet you could get a 2018 at $50k plus TTL right now if you were aggressive and the dealer knew you were ready to buy today. no need to buy used.

Get a slightly used 350 with a year or two of warranty remaining and you will have nothing to worry about. You will have a better car for less money.
