Just floating ideas. Haha. Honestly if they tell me it’s another 4-5 months I’d consider it. From what I’ve read about quarantine delays that’s not an unrealistic timeframe. Apparently there is about 10,000 cars affected by quarantine. Add congestion at the ports etc and the times start to blow out. Best case scenario is that this was due to Brown Marmotated Stink Bug and the issue might be able to be fixed onboard the ship and it gets transported straight away. The Vessel has been anchored off Melbourne since the 18th and likely not to dock until the 1st of February at the earliest. I think I am next level just because of how close I was to take delivery, literally days away, to then not know how long it’s going to be. Heck I’m even looking at the Hyundai i30N or similar as a back up option. Heh.
Well you know I wouldn't take a car that had marmotated stink bug. Doesn't sound pleasant.

I've learnt all about BMSB!

These look similar to the flat bugs I find on my lime tree (which I'm sure are the native variety, and much larger)... and they do smell.

USA is one of many target risk countries.

An April - August delivery is optimal.
I think if my issue is BMSB the quarantine wait could be short. If it is seeds etc. that may take much longer. MIRRAT says the cleaning process is 18 days, or 30 days if it needs to go through the wash bays. I assume those are just process wait times. MIRRAT do Vessel fogging and fumigation as part of their services.

For anyone interested in the quarantine process. This is from the MIRRAT (Melbournes’ Ro-Ro Dock) website.

Meeting biosecurity regulations in Australia: 4 steps in our inspection process
With strict biosecurity regulations, shipping to Australia is not always smooth sailing. As stinkbug season begins, we look at other biosecurity risks and how our services at our Melbourne terminal help to ensure all product shipments arriving in the country meets government regulations.

Shifts in sourcing for the Australian market, a changing commodity mix and the global pandemic have resulted in an increase in contaminated cargo over the past 18 months at Melbourne International RoRo & Automotive Terminal (MIRRAT).

Working closely with Australia’s Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment (DAWE), we treat all types of contaminated cargo, from dump trucks, boats and cranes, to Ferris wheels and supercars.

Historically the workloads associated with quarantine treatment have been very seasonal with high volumes during the Northern Hemisphere’s late winter and early spring and remaining relatively consistent for the remainder of the year. This trend made it easy to predict peaks so we could adjust our labour force. With the current volatility, however, the MIRRAT team have established a scalable framework that allows us to expand and retract the labour force at short notice in line with the workload.

Our range of decontamination services for new and used vehicles and equipment, which includes everything from cargo fumigation to disposal of quarantine waste, plays a vital role in helping to protect the local environment and minimise the risk of biosecurity breaches

With support from four DAWE inspection officers on-site, we’ve established a thorough process to ensure all contaminated cargo is identified and properly treated.
Step 1: Inspecting arriving cargo
The DAWE officers working on-site conduct random inspections of cargo being discharged to identify potential contamination. If potential contamination is spotted, the cargo is then booked for a full inspection. This initial inspection is applied to a random cross-section of cargo and is a cursory observation looking for obvious signs of contamination. If contamination is identified the full consignment of cargo will be placed on hold.
Step 2: Booking cargo for full inspection
Once the cargo has been identified for full inspection, it is placed on hold at its first point of rest and the consignee’s customs broker is notified. The customs broker then books an inspection time with DAWE, which MIRRAT can attend on their behalf to oversee the process. A full inspection is a much more in-depth process compared to the initial surveillance and can encompass engine bays, wheel arches, underbody inspection and the internal areas of a vehicle.
Step 3: Treating contaminated cargo
If after full inspection the cargo is confirmed to be contaminated, the customs broker is notified and the cargo is directed for treatment. The MIRRAT team uses a variety of equipment to treat cargo, depending on the type of contamination. Our standard equipment includes two quarantine approved wash bays, two high-pressure hotwash machines, two inspection pits for underbody cleaning and vacuums for internal cleaning, The treatment path varies depending on the type and location of contamination. Cargo with dust, dirt and mud contamination will typically move from the inspection area into our pre-treatment holding zone, which is a storage area dedicated to contaminated cargo. From here it will be moved to our wash bay. Cargo with underbody contamination will be directed to the inspection pits for cleaning. For seed contamination, cargo is often treated and re-inspected at its first point of rest to reduce handling and ensure a more efficient treatment solution.

MIRRAT has developed its own purpose-built equipment for this de-seeding process. These tools consist of a thin timber stick edged with a folded sticky tape to capture seed stuck in hard-to-reach places on vehicles – very simple but very effective! On average the treatment process takes about 30 days from the time the cargo goes on hold until the time it’s released if it moves through our wash bays. For non-wash bay cargo, the treatment time is much quicker, usually taking about 18 days on average.
Step 4: Rebooking final inspection
Once the product has been treated an inspection is booked with DAWE to clear and release it. The team at MIRRAT can say with confidence that we help to keep Australia’s biosecurity protected.
Behind the scenes at MIRRAT Four interesting facts about our quarantine inspections at MIRRAT
  1. In 2019 we fumigated an entire vessel’s discharge of approximately 800 pieces of cargo within three days.
  2. Our most complex processing job was on a piece of cargo with a beehive attached to it. DAWE’s analysis of the hive came back positive for Varroa – a tiny parasite of honey bees that can be devastating to the local bee population in Australia. The treatment process for this cargo took almost two months.
  3. DAWE officers conduct on average 1,500 inspections per month at MIRRAT.
  4. We’ve detected and removed all sorts of biosecurity risk material, from mud to bugs, logs and sometimes the odd corn cobs.

Don't know if it's old news or not as I don't follow S650.

Heard today a dealer was refunding 15x Dark Horse deposits as they are now limited edition "and don't expect those guys to get them for another 18 months"

Also doesn't expect any S650s till 2024.

When i picked up my car couple weeks back the dealer was suggesting a year before any S650's are delivered in Oz and he had basically zero idea on price apart from the fact a GT would have an 8 in front and the DH would be 6 figures . Lot of water to go under that bridge though . Super glad i opted for last of the 550's , not that i was a huge fan of the 650 look but it was getting close to my only new option at one stage .

Saw an article Oz s650 production slated to start Oct/Nov this year so pricing should be coming soon . Given AUDUSD is at 10 month lows might be a bit of sticker shock to come although plenty can change in a few months but given exchange rate , shipping prices/processing it's hardly looking great atm . A least LCT threshold jumped a fair bit which will ease price pressure a little . I still think Auto GT going to start around 85k Driveaway , hope im wrong . Current pricing will be approx 1.55 times USD prices without " extras "

Although I can easily afford it, I will be cancelling my order if it is anywhere near $80K
The similarly configured US MY24 Mustang GT has a Net Price Rise of US$150 - AU$231 - over the MY23.

As we know the AU MY23 pricing, presumably this minor pricing increase would be reflected in costing for FOA, before factoring Exchange Rates - which also impacts every other imported car.

How can you say that when the out going model was in the high to mid seventies, if you are true to your word you wont be driving a mustang.

I was thinking the same thing. My MY22 was in the low $80K's so the MY24 will be at least that.

Depends how you option it - I was talking basic Auto GT, which has come down in price slightly with a $5K increased LCT Threshold. I just signed up for a MY24 GT A10 Auto, in Atlas Blue - at an indicative price under $75K Drive away based on CURRENT MY23 pricing. This will be increased consistent with the corresponding MY24 Price Increase, which should be relatively minor as previously indicated, If FoA are consistent with the Pricing Policy of the US Parent company - which is US$150 increase for a similarly configured GT to ours. However although this should be indicative of FoA acquisition Costing, we will just have to wait and see.

What annoying me at the moment with S650 is that I have had a NSC for months, and now have an allocation for an October build, but Ford have not released pricing, which means I can't lock down a final spec.

The only thing I can think of with this strategy is that Ford are leaving it to the last minute before locking in a price and an exchange rate.

Just to elaborate on the comparable MY24 US Pricing INCREASE, Our Australian GTs are configured as: A GT Premium, with the 401A and Performance Packages, with Active Valve Exhaust and B&O Audio.

With the US equivalent configured GT Premium Pricing (AU Spec), although there is a listed US$3650 Price Increase, if you delve into the revised options pricing, quite another pricing scenario is revealed.

Firstly US$1,000 of that price is a US specific "Gas Guzzler" TAX, not applicable to Australia.

Although Ford Au increased the MY22 Pricing by $900, we could (should!) benefit from only a relatively minor price increase on the MY24, as whilst the host US GT has a US$2650 Price Increase (excluding the US Gas Guzzler Tax), this should be mostly OFFSET (theoretically) by the Price Reduction of the GT Performance Package of US $1700. This has REDUCED from US $6700 to US $4995

In addition the 12.4" Digital Dash is now Standard across the Range, and the B&O 1000W Audio System (US $995 Option) has been absorbed into the 401A Package, which has increased by US$200, producing additional $800 savings.

In summary: GT Premium Price Increase = US $2,650
GT Performance Pkg Price REDUCTION = US $1,700 (as included with Aus Spec Mustang GTs).
B&O Audio Net Reduction = US $800
Total Saving: 1700 + 800 = 2500
Indicative Net Increase = 2650-2500 = US $150

As I previously said, although this should be reflective of FoA Costing, we will have to wait and see.
