i still dont know what the hell the learning feature of these trans does. i have to reset it every 8-10 months or so in my F150 because it will start doing these hard and very loud downshifts at low speeds. and by loud i mean sounds like a damn u joint on the driveshaft is gonna break loud. Whe i reset it with FORSCAN it runs smooth as butter until I have to do it again. My '21 mustang is kinda sorta i think starting to do it at 10k miles. Even with the shifter in regular drive mode, down low it has that aggressive shudder like its in Sport mode. Other than that they run great, i just dont get what the learning function is really supposed to do. Ive heard of some guys in the F150 forums disabling it completely and fixing the problem for good.
This sounds like you are low on fluid. I would check that first!

I'm so close to 500 I can taste it. Been dying to start opening her up
could just do what i did and bounce it off the limiter a couple times on the test drive lol. I pretty much baby the car and really only get into it on the highway or getting onto the highway. I think its seen redline maybe 3 times and each time, including that one on the test drive has been from accidently hitting the paddle shifters while doing a hard turn and not realizing it until its bouncing off the limiter. I was so worried i cooked it on the test drive.

Planning to go boost this summer and im having Wengerd set it up so it will still auto shift up even when in paddle mode. Honestly, the paddles are cool, it gives it that sporty look and feel, but realistically i dont ever use them. The trans does a fantastic job on its own for the way i drive it.

The learning function is really freakin dumb! Just make the trans one way, smooth and predictable.

The owners manual in most vehicles advises you to take it easy for the 1st 500-1000 miles to let it break in. Track mode settings are not taking it easy. The shifting is programmed to shift fast and solidly quick bangs with limited slipping of the clutches, at a higher rpm than normal. Think of track mode like the old days adding a shift kit to a c4/c6 and after install the transmission shifts are more brutal and at a higher rpm shift point.
I dont really believe this. you can have it in track mode and still baby it and keep RPMs low. If it were that detrimental to the point it would cause parts to fail, Ford would lock out that mode until X amount of miles passed to avoid the influx of warranty repairs. And to that point, not even considering the break in period, if a fucking drive mode alone could cause parts to fail they wouldnt even program it in just for the warranty complaints they would get not to even mention the failure of engineering that would be.

Hell, people buy Porsches and drive them from the dealer to the track brand new. Their engines and trans are built to far tighter tolerances than Fords. Am i gonna say break in period is a myth? no, not with my money at least lol. But i dont think its black and white either to where if you dont baby it for a 1000 miles youre doomed to failure and will grenade the motor.

I haven't taken it over 5k so far and only light pulls if you can even call it that, 1/2-2/3 throttle at most lol

It doesn’t say don’t use Track mode specifically, but Ford is clearly suggesting to take it easy for 1,000 miles.

This sounds like you are low on fluid. I would check that first!
Late response, I know, but is that normal for these problems to not show up until ~10k miles? I would think with low fluid it would be doing that right off the bat.

Dealers will usually put off checking fluid until after the learning period because it’s a pain to do. 10k though is way too long. If you are exhibiting symptoms I would bring it in after the official 1k break in period and insist they check the level.
