Wow this is so interesting to follow along! I’ve always seen the whole I5autohaus conversion kit on their website but it’s cool to see someone do it! Best of luck to you! Keep updating us!

My man is using snap-on tools, I thinks he’s doing pretty good financiallymaybe get a part-time job if insurance doesn't cover labor after the $6930. parts bill?![]()
Thank you, I’m very excited to see it finished and get started on the finishing touches and interior swap!Oh my god, that looks amazing! Does the new radiator support lower the front hood line bumper like the original gt500?
Also looks like the fenders sit about an inch wider than stock?
Yes!!!Something quite essential is missing there yet, however!
When are you going the rest of the way?

Make sure you have that chassis braced properly before adding the big power. Not sure if you’ve seen the Throttle House video where they test out the Super Snake convertible but the chassis actually did not hold up during their test. And that was a car built by Shelby American.Yes!!!That’s coming up next!
Not sure when, but ever since I got the car I’ve wanted to do a convertible GT500/Shelby conversion. Always planned body work and interior first and then the drivetrain.
I’m working on starting up my own business in SoCal LA and I drive up to 300 miles a day, so tbh keeping the stock engine saves me tons on gas until I reach the next phase (aiming for the next six months) and then make the upgrade. I paid as much as $110 a day on gas when I had a V8 HEMI.
Though I’m not sure if I want to go official GT500 5.2 upgrade or the Shelby Super Snake 5.0 upgrade. I’ve found both available to buy and install now.
The GT500 is 760HP, includes all parts, ECU, 7speed DCT, and all needed parts at $30,999.
While from the same guy that sold me the gutted Super Snake interior has a 840HP Shelby 5.0 with the 10R80 and all needed parts for $20,000.
They're both in my range that’s I plan to spend, but I also need to account for all the extra work and suspension, brakes, welding chassis, etc. so that I have it properly built. A stock convertible with 760HP+ would be asking for trouble![]()
Ha ha haMake sure you have that chassis braced properly before adding the big power. Not sure if you’ve seen the Throttle House video where they test out the Super Snake convertible but the chassis actually did not hold up during their test. And that was a car built by Shelby American.
I think the missing strut brace was a big part of the failure on that Super Snake. I’m not as well versed on other bracing needed for big HP on verts so I’ll defer to others as far as anything else needed. Cool build!Ha ha hawow that’s unexpected. While I think the Shelby cars are cool, I do think the ones directly from Shelby (not from Ford) are heavily overpriced. While cool they don’t do enough for the high six figure price tags to justify me ever buying one.
One mistake I think they made was not installing a different/larger hood like the GT500, and also removing the strut brace and leaving it without anything was just pure stupidity on Shelby’s part.
I’m planning to add this OEM GT500 strut brace since it will fit my larger hood.

As well as plenty of extra bracing, chassis welding and additional custom support to make sure it doesn’t rip apart like that mess in the video. If anyone has any specific suggestions let me know!
What is that? I've never seen one.Was just updated that the car will be ready tomorrow!
Also I’m trying to find one of these in gloss black if anyone knows of one.

That's when you give up driving, and only your 10 years younger wife is behind the wheel, so you at least think you're still in control on the passanger seat. What is that? I've never seen one.
Lmao it’s a 2018 Ecoboost, want to do a Whipple GT350 5.2 swap with it though. No one’s done a GT500 convertible so figured I’d be the first to do it. Been a process. What year mustang ? Looks good. It’s a gt with a gt500 kit?
