Hello everyone. I just finished putting some Stainless works longtubes on my buddies GT350.

Decided to put the cats on, and it sounded so much better. Way less raspy, loud but very controllable. And at WOT it sounds killer. Perfect amount of loud and rasp.

These SW 200 cell cats are probably very free flowing, and I cant imagine theyre robbing any power? But Id like to try having a set of Vibrant 1794 resonators in place of the cats. IIRC, on my 2016 GT when I had a full Corsa exhaust (headers, no cats with Sports mufflers) it reduced the rasp quite a bit and lowered the loudness a little bit. But that was a few years ago, so I cant recall fully.

Has anyone done something similar to this?

I don’t think those are going to quiet things down for you. I was thinking of trying some of those incorporated into my X-pipe, until I saw a video on ponie1992’s YT page of him installing some on his buddies S550, which was still extremely loud afterward. I figured it would be a waste of time.

I have not used the Vibrant's but I have used other brands and they do a pretty good job of taming the noise.

Something like this in place of the factory resonator
Those kill power.

I'd stick to the true 3 inch in and out bottle resonators.

If you don't have one already an H pipe kills some rasp too.

My LTHs with X-pipe is way louder than they were with the factory resonator. H-pipe should kill the rasp like you said, but I’m thinking it’ll still be loud.

I put the 3 inch magnaflow true x resonator on my car and took it off the same day. it noticeably killed top end power.

I use the stainless brothers 3 inch bottle resonators and they work well for me. I do not however have headers at this time.

Thanks for the replies. As for an H pipe, just not a fan on how they sound.

If the cats are high flowing and not robbing power and sound perfect, why not just continue running them?

Okay, got the 1794's on today. The Vibrant 1794s are 3" ID inlet and outlet. Once side slips right over the collector of the header, Stainless works. The other needs to be a 3" OD for the connecting pipe. I bought a 3" OD section of pipe, cut the outlet off the 1794 and had a muffler shop weld them on for $50.

Sound is subjective, but to me I think it sounds perfect. At normal driving, its loud but very manageable. It doesnt have that "tinny" or rocks in muffler sound like it did with no cats. I despise that sound. It gets it ever so slightly at like 2500rpm at half throttle input but its very subtle. At WOT it sounds killer. Screams. Has a very unique sound to it. Downshifts sound nasty too.

Obviously me explaining it means nothing. I will try to get some videos soon. Its cold in the Northeast right now, so WOT is just wheel hop and spinning lol. The exhaust is Stainless works headers, Vibrant 1794 resonators in place of the SW cats, into the factory resonated catback.
Awesome! Did you take any pics of them on the car? Would you say they’re louder than or equally as loud as before you installed them?

No, but Ill grab some pics. I need to order some big daddies angled o2 simulators. So Ill be getting back under the car.

Definitely louder than the cats. Quieter than off road and much less rasp. I thought with cats, it was def louder than factory but not by a whole lot. The resonators in place of the cats is a perfect mix.

Here’s a quick video, it’s cold up in the north east. Was about 40-45*

I think the sound is perfect for what I was looking for. I’m very picky with exhaust lol
Sounds good! Thanks for posting that. I heard that spin from the cold roadway. Are you completely set and happy with the sound now, or are you still experimenting?

Thanks! Yeah, I’m happy with it now. The vibrant resonators took a good chunk of the rasp down from no cats. No cats while normally driving just sounded crappy to me. Raspy, didn’t have the unique voodoo sound to it.
