It's just a curious question....

Growing up through your childhood/schooling - did you dislike reading books?

But now find yourself reading all the time, anything and everything on the web - like right now?

What's the difference between not wanting to read a book and reading on your mobile device/Computer?

LMAO.... 😂

The difference is there weren’t any books about mustangs to look through, at least not as easily accessible as my phone. And I couldn’t ask the book a question and have it respond.

Books are for nerds!!

Then, I'm a nerd. Also, "woke". Plus, an asshole, but not a flaming asshole.

Always loved books.

If you say you’re woke you don’t have to specify that you’re an asshole, everyone already knows.

I've always loved to read since 6th grade, sci-fi, action, mysteries. Still read every morning on my Kindle I have hundreds of books stored.

I read tons of books when I was young. But, that was in the 40s and 50s. Early TV was mostly geared toward adults, there were only a few channels and the TV set was 17" black and white. Radio shows were more entertaining than TV, but that got old fast. So books were the best option.

Read! And I like the books. Something about leather-bound, gilt-edged books.

Once I have a book, no one can edit the authors words. And I understand what the author is telling me. The Interweb? Aw, sh*t! there is just so much chaff to get through to get to the wheat.

I recommend the Dean Koontz Frankenstein and Odd Thomas series. Very interesting and unusual books that are mostly available free in digital form.

As a child I loved reading. I used to read everything I could lay my hands on. Books, newspapers, magazines, you name it. Old, new, it didn't matter.
Later on, when literature became compulsory in school, my native stubbornness and deep hatred of being told what to do stepped in, so I started reading less and less. Having an insufferable hag as a literature teacher in high school didn't help either. My deeply ingrained passion for reading was still there though, it's just that it shifted from fiction to technical stuff.
I still read a lot today, though most of it is now on-line.

Some years ago I had a subscription to a British photography magazine, Amateur Photographer. One of my favourite features of that magazine was a column signed by a British photographer, Roger Hicks. Every week he would pick a certain topic, which could either be related directly to photography, or completely unrelated to it, or anything in between, and he would present it, and his views on it, in a direct but attractive manner. He was a smart man, and his column was a delight to read.

One of those topics was luck.

After talking a bit about luck, and what it means to be lucky, he said something striking. "You, who are reading this magazine, are lucky. You're lucky because you can read. Many people are denied this pleasure".

Up to that point I had taken reading for granted. Of course I can read; it's like breathing, everyone can do it. But he was right. That was the moment when I realized how lucky I actually was without even knowing. How lucky I was not only to be able to read in my own language (which is already a great feat in itself), but also to read and write perfectly in two foreign languages, as well as to read acceptably well in further two. That's pure, unadulterated luck. I hadn't seen it that way until then.
We're lucky we can read. It's something nothing and no one can take away from us, ever. It's a pleasure that will be with us the whole life.

I'm constantly glued to my mobile device, reading articles, forums, and yes, even Game of Thrones discussions! For me, the shift happened because I found topics and stories that genuinely piqued my interest online. It's not about the medium, but the content. I guess the difference lies in the freedom to choose what we read. When it's something we're passionate about, it doesn't feel like a task anymore. It becomes a hobby! I recently stumbled upon a fantastic analysis of the Game of Thrones books over at bookwormera.com. It's been a game-changer for me as a fan of the series. I never thought I'd geek out over reading like this, but here I am.

Yes, and no. I liked reading and learning, but didn't like having to look like a freak doing it.
I could read normal speed only if I turn a book upside down and by looking at it through a mirror. If I read a book normally, It is a slow go and I lose my place I'm reading very easily.
Doctors when in my 50's told me it is a form of dyslexia.
Still love reading, I do wish computers could show text in the way discribed above .
