Good to be back in a Mustang...

I'm 50 and was a Mustang guy for a while, but I dabbled in many different cars, including a TA, TA WS6, Supra, and recently a C5 Z06, C6 Z06 and a brief stint with a C8 that I ordered new and waited a year to get.

But I recently reunited with a mustang and my truck is glad to have another 5.0 Coyote in the driveway. She's an 800hp 2017 GT Premium with only 3,500 miles on her, Gen 5, stg. 2 Whippled, and many other goodies.

Gotta say, I absolutely LOVE the car. Not only is it very fast, but rides nice, handles great, and has many amenities. Leather, heated AND cooled seats, Nav, Blind spot detection, Sync 3, GREAT backup camera, color-selectable ambient lighting, keyless entry, push start, and heck it even projects a pony on the ground when you open the door.

This car is an amazing bang for the buck as far as I'm concerned.

Thank you! I bought it private sale from an Ad here on this forum. Previous owner did all the go fast mods, and kept the car pristine. I bought it with only 3400 miles on it, and it was kept in a heated garage on tire savers.

I recently added the following:

Cervini front splitter
GT350 Rear Valance
GT350R/GT500 rear spoiler with gurney flap
AWE Touring exhaust
Project 6GR 20" wheels with Nitto 555R2 305/35 and G2's 275/35

I also purchased a bunch of suspension parts, but I am not sure I will add them because I like the way it rides and handles as is and I get no wheel hop.

And the C8?

I waited a year to get it sold it for $15k profit with 4 miles on her. I just parked it right in the garage after delivery and put it up for sale. Took that $15k and put it towards buying this mustang for only $38k which it was like brand new condition with $20k worth of work done to it, including the Whipple. So the swap basically put me in a like new 800hp S550 for $23k.

I also have a deposit for a C8 Z06 that I put down a year ago with Macmulkin, but I'm about 3-4 years away. The wait list is insane. If the market is crazy for them when my allocation comes up, I will probably flip that for profit too.

Here is when I took delivery of my C8, it was awesome but I wasn't going to leave that amount of profit on the table:

I have to add...these new Nitto 555R2's...are AWESOME. 800hp and they really grip!!

As long as it's warm out, I punch it in 2nd gear and it just hooks and goes.

Heck even in first gear with a little roll it hooks and boogies, with the T/C off.

And let me tell you, the AWE touring exhaust I installed...absolutely PERFECT sound

Having a blast with this car.

You did great with the new Mustang. Not much more to be done to it, for sure. The C8 is still a discussion topic on the old guy (C1/C2) part of Corvette Forum. Either love it or hate it. Your driveway looks a lot better now....lol

I just love these kind of deals between private individuals. Always a bit of risk involved but bought right they can be very rewarding. One of my hopes for the future is to find the right platform and invest in a backup crate engine as a spare. In the mean time, I highly recommend using an analysis regimen with someone like https://www.blackstone-labs.com/ now that you're Whippling.

Yeah I hear you. He was the original owner, and an older gentleman who loves to build cars and motorcycles. After speaking with him I had full confidence, and the car checked out perfectly. Most people here are good guys and do the right thing.

Thanks for the tip. Do you think the motor is @ high risk with the Whipple? It is running the stock Whipple tune, which I hope is the key to longevity. I get on the car a lot but don't beat the piss out of it and never take it to the track. It's just a fun street car for me.

Doesn't seem to me your motor is at high risk at 800 hp. Earlier Coyotes make 700 reliably, and 3rd gen motors are a big improvement. Over the 2nd gen.

I can't speak from personal experience about the the risk factor. From what I've read you should be OK especially since you did he did the oil pump gears and crank bracket. That being said, anytime you ask an engine to do more than what it was designed for you increase the odds of early failure i.e. #8 crank bearing or ring land failure (I think) potentially suffering from oil starvation and/or detonation. There are some good threads on this site about this topic. I like a good S.O.A.P. (spectrometric oil analysis program) to be in place for my favorite engines that I want to keep around.

Note to consider: I read that GM is making Z06 buyers wait 1 yr before selling or they won't honor the factory warranty to the new owner. You can see the play they're going for, you have to lose a year of warranty time to flip it. Just sayin'.
