Well, according to the spreadsheet, there was one. It was on display at BJ when they first announced the cars. It had a VIN of 1FA6P8JZ3L5550436 and is listed in the Spreadsheet with a Serial Number of TTR001. (I am not sure if anyone had pics of that car at BJ to confirm whether the Serial Number is accurate.)

I'm not biased. Mine isn't for sale so what they sell for doesn't affect me. I just don't know why you get so worked up about them. People who bought them love them for the nostalgia of what they represent. I know when I look at mine, I think of the 66 that I used to have. And yeah, I'll just keep calling it a chin spoiler. That's what they used to call them, I like the Heritage thing, and people (including you apparently) still know what I'm talking about.

I hope for the Sellers sake that this car sells for over $200K because I think it's cool for very different reasons than the HEP's are also cool. But if something's so rare that a large number of people do not understand how rare it is, it's only worth what people pay for them. For example, they made a lot less of the 2015 Shelby GT350's than the HEP GT350R's, but no one is offering over 100K for the more rare GT350.

I'm also interested to see where the 2020 TT car sells for. Before it was listed I had no idea about the TT cars. The market is down overall. The R's are not even selling right now. The last 3 R's on BaT has not met the reserve.

The TT cars are not that well known. Plus BaT usually does a terrible job at showcasing extremely rare cars and specs, and this car is no exception. Add in the high mileage and I think this car will disappoint.

The last 2020 to actually sell at Auction was another Grabber Lime R at Mecum in early July. With buyers fees it sold for 102k, but it only had 825 miles.

Not worked up by a long shot. I am excited to see the TT resurface. My only point is the perception of rarity. Some cars are truly rare and some only carry that perception.

If I was a collector, I would own that TT.

Before general production of a vehicle, they have a smaller scale production run to test parts, assembly techniques, and machines for proper calibration and function. These limited runs are often used to produce engineering examples for analysis and evaluation. For example, the GT500 TT run not only tested the assembly and production of the vehicle, but when they were completed, they were put in the hands of various engineers to evaluate and test out in the wild. Before the general manufacturing run, all kinds of various types of GT500s were seen all around the Detroit area.

Usually, these cars are destroyed. They were not part of the finalized production and did not go down the normal assembly line. These 2 TT Rs that got out were used as a press car by FP and somehow they were put on the auction block in Detroit (I believe it was Manheim). Sometimes these mistakes happen.

I wrote to Ford Performance about this and the other TT R that was available. Their response was that they were believed to be used as press cars for the '20 MY. That explains why this car had so many miles on it. It was driven. The car had similar miles on it when it was for sale a long time ago on the dealers lot. I could try to dig it all up again. I took lots of screenshots for the dealers online ad. I even brought this car to the attention of Harry, and asked that he reach out to try to find this car a good home. I knew what it was, and so did he. Unfortunately, the R models then were not as sought out as they are now.

So, everyone knows how rare PP cars are..... Here you have a TT car that is probably a 1 of 2 R model.

I had an experience with a BMW K1200LT motorcycle years ago. It pained me to find out it was a PP or TT bike that “must” be destroyed after the rider I knew was done testing it. I don’t believe it even had a VIN.

Unfortunately I think the TT rarity will get lost on BAT. Or whoever would want the TT rarity will get discouraged by the miles.

They were workhorses. People who had them drove them and when they did, drove them hard.

With that said, I would say fit and finish were spot on and all the rest of the car went under extra scrutiny because they were a very limited production with the emphasis on manufacturing and collecting engineering data. Everything that went into the TT cars was scrutinized.

Vehicles that run down the normal production line? They are slapped together with the usual regard as the regular production mustangs. Those that were lucky enough to have their cars pulled for VIP audit, got extra attention and were gone over with a fine tooth comb. One of my Rs was part of that process (thanks Leo) and the car is an example of fit and finish.

Anyway, I will be watching the TT on the block with interest.

For those of you looking for the big price drop, keep waiting. Its not going to happen unless the economy really hits bottom (possible) Even at that, we have seen that those who have money will take advantage and buy. Those who dont have money wont be able to afford one. Prices have risen across the board with most muscle/sports cars. They seem to peek then drop a bit then stabilize/stagnate. That's the short term view IMHO. Long term I am not sure where we are headed. Unfortunately politics will have an effect. The advancement of the EV is going to have an effect. Will it kill the value or, just make them more expensive? Wish my Chrystal ball worked.

No extra goodies. They were pre-preproduction cars that are rare because they are usually destroyed or never released to the public.
