I have a CF splitter. It doesn't feature any insets for the shelby letters.

I've purchased the acrylic letters from Kim and would like to stick them on it. But I'm struggling with the best way to lay them out so they end up exactly as OEM. They're double sided sticky and I also don't want to have to remove them once they're on.

Thoughts/Ideas?

If you just bought the insert size letters I think they would not look very good without the recess to enhance them( shadow lines).
Just my opinion.

I think they'd kinda look better, one of the reasons people are going with the 3 dimensional letters is because the recessed insets and stickers give the lettering no depth (kinda like the difference between stained concrete and tiled flooring).

The whole point of the recess is to give the letter depth (just in the other direction) I think raised could look good if done tastefully. Ideally I'd be able to mock it up and roll it around and if it looks bunk I could just abandon the whole effort.

This is the normal drop in vinyl letter style. Are you saying that you sourced a 3D raised style? I think the normal letter style used on the OEM splitter will look odd without the recess as they are under scaled. (Too skinny)

You will need to add spacing between the letters if you want to replicate the factory Shelby recessed letters.
Kind of like this:

S H E B L Y

That's just plain funny.

Whoever owned my GT 350 before me tried to paint the recessed "SHELBY" white in the splitter. It looks like a child did it. Where can I get these decals to cover it up?

3M 94 primer helps with making it stick.

Bemaro makes good vinyl letters.

get some paint thinner and rub it off

I’d see if you can find a stencil. Or, if you have your original splitter then make a stencil using that and tape it to your cf splitter to provide proper spacing.

I'd probably go about it something like:
  • Layout blue painters tape on new splitter where the top edge of the tape is where you want the bottom of your letters, and mark the centerline
  • Measure OEM splitter letter distance from the bottom center of S-Y, H-B, and E-L
  • Lay out letters with this exact distance between the letters' centers, making sure that the exact half distance is laying right on the marked centerline
  • Run into some problems I hadn't accounted for and have to figure it out on the fly

Problem is, it's not a straight line arrangement. The letters have a radius to them (bottom line).
